Enjoyed having a room on 1st floor, a comfortable bed, a nice size shower with great water pressure, just had to get used to adjusting water temperature to not too hot or cold just warm. A perfect sized T.V for the room, window open all day & night with no disturbance from noise outside - got a great deal on price of room during the week from Sunday to Thurs. so was well worth it & providing they repair a dodgy hole in the flooring of the toilet/shower, i would not hesitate to recommend it & it's location - in the thick of it ... cafes, restaurants, pubs, shops galore & within a short walking distance to Train Station, Cardiff Castle, the Millennium & Princepality Stadium, The Pierhead & Synedd Building, where u can get the best hot chocolate topped with fresh whipped cream. Loved Wales, Cardiff & surrounding areas, clean beaches, spectacular woodlands, waterfalls & all the naturally friendly Welsh people, who were unpretentious & unafraid of being themselves. The staff in the restaurant below which belongs to the owners and is a family run business were just fabulous, very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We loved the staff. Very handy as well late at night when your feeling hungry. Accommodation is basic but clean and adequate we had come for a concert at the Principality Stadium and is ideally located as only a very short walk away ( room prices do increase when a gig is on but the location and ease to the gig justified the higher price for us). Tea and coffee facility in the rooms and rooms are cleaned daily with fresh towels. If parking in the NCP car park the owners have a voucher which you purchase from them and it reduces the cost of parking we stayed for 3 nights and saved about £35.00 so well worth it and the carpark is only around the corner.

You do need to be quite fit for the stairs especially if your on the top floor as there is no lift. The carpet on the stairs is thread bare in places and does need to be replaced could potentially be a trip/fall hazard especially as the stairs are so steep.

This accommodation ticks all the boxes for a perfect stay. The room is spotless, and the location couldn't be better. Situated strategically in Cardiff, it offers easy access to all the city has to offer. Highly recommended for a hassle-free and enjoyable experience.

Despite the building's age, my stay was surprisingly enjoyable. The lower rate didn't reflect the cleanliness and comfort of the room, which exceeded my expectations. The building's old charm added to the experience, and its central location made exploring the city incredibly convenient. Overall, a pleasant surprise and a reminder not to judge a book by its cover.

Loved the price, the ample space, had all the required facilities coffee and tea making facilities (some budget hotels don't provide) with a hair dryer and a wardrobe as a bonus extra. Had a ensuite too. City centre location, close by train station in walking distance to coach station, plus to the arena if coming for a concert like me. Ease of checking in at the gyros hut nxt door/out with a key box If you require to check out early. All in a pleasant stay and will definitely return.

What you get in a city centre in the middle of summer for the price is a bargain. I travel over 50 hotels a year to rate. It has everything you need. It was quiet. You get your own broadband in your room. Roomy. For the price, you can not ever complain. 11am check out is decent. Alright for an over night, 2 night stay. Stairs kill you if your at the top though lol.

The room had all the basic amenities. The location was excellent being in the center of the city.

My room was on the 4th floor, so I had to climb many flights of stairs each time I went out. But it wasn't much of an inconvenience for me. As my room was facing the rear side of the building, the view from the room was not so good but I guess that was to be expected. Another noted thing was that the bathroom door was not locking properly but it wasn't a problem for me as I stayed by myself.

Room was very comfy, big and clean. My partner and I really enjoyed the little radiator in the bathroom. Because the room was so central, it was super manageable to see most of the city in such a short period of time.

I didn't like the fact that there was no mat in the bathroom, and we had to use one of our towels for it. But it's a really small detail compared to the amazing experience we had.

It's well located in the centre of Cardiff, the room and the bed were quite big and comfortable, the toilet with shower was quite spacious and even if it sounds a bit strange having to check in at the chicken fast food on the left, in practice there were no problems at all. The price is absolutely reasonable.

It's a bit difficult to find, I had to ask to three different people and not one of them, even if they were very close to the place, knew where the ML Lodge was. Apart from that just little things that can be sorted easily if you tell to the people in charge. The room was on the second floor and there is no lift. It was ok for me, because I didn't have heavy luggage, but...

The location is everything! It’s really affordable to be surrounded by pubs, clubs and shops. The beds were clean and comfortable. The only negative is those stairs 😅 but worth it for the price and location. I would absolutely stay here again

We came to Cardiff for a concert at the International arena and chose ML Lodge as and affordable place to stay afterwards. It was everything we needed, and we really enjoyed our stay. Communication with ML lodge was good; I got a very nice message from Chris a few days before we arrived with contact numbers, wifi code and instructions for key collection etc. The room was basic but quiet and not too warm, so we slept well. Checkout was 11 am - very helpful after a late night. The location was the most important thing, though, literally a few minutes walk from the International arena. St. David's Hall and The Principality Stadium. Also very near the castle, Bute Park, and a bewildering array of restaurants in the historic entre of Cardiff. In summary, if you are in Cardiff for an event at any of the major venues and needed somewhere safe and affordable to crash afterwards, ML Lodge would be perfect.

Parking was a bit of a faff, and not cheap. There are NCP parks very near, but they are expensive. Cardiff has sold and closed the Park and Ride service. We chose to park at the Council's North Road Car Park and then walk in, which saved a few quid. ML Lodge is in a very old, narrow building, with rooms arranged over 5 floors. The stairs really are steep, and there is no lift. This didn't bother us at all - the location at the back and high up was what made the room so quiet even though it was in the city centre. However, if you do struggle with steps, I would advise that you contact ML Lodge in advace to see if they can book yo into a room at the bottom.
