Everything. The building is beautiful, the view is absolutely stunning. It was amazing to be so close to nature. The staff were exceptional, the food was unbelievable, huge portions mind, so bare that in mind when ordering. The room was immaculate, and had everything that we needed. The shower was huge. I'm not going to share photos only because I don't want to ruin the wow factor for anyone visiting. Top tip for anyone visiting on a weekend for tea.. Go early as it gets unbelievably busy, staff worked non stop and always stayed very professional. I was watching the staff in awe.

1 thing and it's so minor. The mirror is too far away from the dressing table. So when doing hair etc it's a bit of a problem. I can't remember what room I stayed in though. Very minor, it wouldn't stop me from coming back.

Lovely two night stay. Staff were very friendly and professional, room was reasonably spacious and very clean. Creaky floorboards, its an old building. It's location is great for trips to Durham, and our room was very quiet. Breakfasts were quite wonderful and we ate there in the evenings. Very good reasonably priced food served hot, nice local bitter on tap

We went during quite a cold snap and the radiator struggled to heat the room. But an electric fan heater was provided, so problem immediately resolved

Breakfast - Good, more fruit would be nice Dinner - Good size portions and tasty, Steak and Ale Pie was good with a good selection of vegetarian options Bed - Very comfortable Staff - Were friendly and informative

Bedroom : Bin in the bedroom had not been empty from previous occupant although the room was very clean. A more comfortable seated chair in bed room would be better than a dinning type chair. Bathroom : Disappointed to see plastic cups in plastic bags in the bathroom, looked cheap and very un environmental. The bathroom could do with a little more decor it was rather clinical.

Clean and comfortable. Light and airy rooms. Quality accommodation and helpful, friendly staff. Everything you would need, all on site - a bar, garden, restaurant. Close to most main routes.

Some uneven steps, to some of the rooms, but because it's an old building, is understandable. Exit from car park is onto a fast road, with a blind bend adjacent. Oncoming motorists don't seem to be aware (or don't care) that there is an exit there and are travelling at speed. Don't think there's adequate signage on the main road, approaching the pub.Had to make a scary dash to get out, safely.

The staff were exceptionally helpful and made us feel really at home. The food was prepared to an excellent standard with plenty of variety for both breakfast and dinner. The Inn was quaint, yet had modern amenities and well decorated, co-ordinated bedrooms. We had a 6 foot bed which was extremely comfortable. The en-suite bathroom was huge with a beautiful walk-in shower. The room was kept warm as the heating was continuously on with adjustable radiator thermostats to your own liking. Parking was always available during our 4 night stay, sometimes right outside the guest entrance.

A few hooks would be useful.

Staff very attentive on arrival making sure we had found parking, advising us to come down for evening meal when ready even found us a table even though they were busy, food was lovely and the breakfast was fresh and hot. Drinks could also be taken back to the room. Room was lovley and clean and the bed very comfy

Room was cold even with bedroom radiator on and the bathroom radiator didn't work. However this did not ruin our stay and we will be back

Room excellent, bright, clean and comfortable. On suite excellent. Breakfast was good, plenty of choice and the staff were happy to make adaptations. There are no words to describe dinner. The food was well prepared, cooked to perfection and always hot. Each mouthful was a joy for the tastebuds. All the staff, Housekeeping, Bar Staff, Waiters (especially Josh) and Management were kind, caring and made you feel as if you where staying with friends.

We thoroughly enjoyed our brief overnight stay, dinner and breakfast, The restaurant was busy in the evening and the menu had a lot of choices. The property was having a seafood week menu which we took advantage of and enjoyed it, so much so we even had a pudding. Breakfast was cooked to order and was also very good - if not a bit too much to eat! The room was very comfortable and clean and the shower was great! The staff were extremely helpful and courteous!

Fantastic location. Very comfortable room (although the heating was on when I arrived - it was a hot summer day). Spotless bathroom with good bath and excellent shower. Delicious breakfast and delightful staff (both at checkin and at brrakfast). Brilliantly located for Durham (an easy 10 min drive into the city centre).

The pub is on a busy main road - my room (no 6) was at the front so there was road noise. Will request a room facing the back when I next visit.

Very friendly staff who rang us before we arrived to explain that we wouldn't get there in time to order dinner. We already knew that but really appreciated their call. Lovely and attentive staff. Wonderful bed, so comfy, and an amazing rainfall shower that allowed you to chose the exact temperature you wanted. Big full tasty breakfast that kept us going for our onwards journeys. Great to be tucked off the main A-road with lots of parking. Just 2 miles from the centre of Durham - very handy when finishing a long drive in the dark! Very cozy feel and nice views. Thank you!
