Like many "hotels" in this area this is a large house that has been converted so you have to expect that some of the facilities are not as extensive as a purpose built hotel. However, As soon as you walk in there is a friendly, comfortable feel about it. The food at the hotel was excellent and good value for money. All of it freshly cooked with local produce and at a good price with a good choice on the menu. The staff were friendly, professional, smartly dressed and helpful. There is a bar in the hotel which has a welcoming, relaxed feel to the place and well stocked. Rooms were clean and were cleaned every day. Coffee, tea and biscuits were very welcome.
There was nothing I didn't like about the hotel. It was very good value for money.

Lovely hotel and great location, we didn’t spend much time there but what we did was great but what stood out was the staff all were fabulous with my little boy but Dan went above and beyond and my son gave him a 10 out of 5 and insisted he needed to tip him. Restaurant was lovely we only had dinner 1 night and small breakfasts (I don’t really do breakfast) but nothing was a hassle and the cocktails were lovely to.
The shower was the only down side being electric but also temperamental but that’s just a small blip, I wouldn’t think twice about booking here again

Everything about our stay was easy and inviting. We took the train to Elgin and just walked a few minutes up the road (there is a well-paved sidewalk for roller bags) to check in. The first level of the hotel has a bar and large restaurant and it is all very warm and welcoming. The rooms are each unique and have the basics of what you need. A few minutes walk from the hotel is a cute town with a bunch of restaurants. Check in was quick and check out was even easier (just leave your key at the front).

The hotel was warm and comfortable and everything you would hope for from an independent hotel. The restaurant offers wholesome food and caters for a good range of tastes, and budgets. It is located just a few minutes walk from the station and town centre, yet remained very quiet at night. Staying just before Christmas, it was clearly a popular choice for locals to meet for a meal, which is always a good sign.
No one was around when I arrived, so I had to ring the bell a number of times, before someone appeared at reception. Perhaps I just caught them a bad moment? The decor was a little dated, though thankfully, not tatty. Nevertheless, the bathroom had been redone relatively recently.

Overall a good hotel. Pros: Carpark, amenities (coffee, tea, biscuits, shower/shampoo soaps/iron) comfortable bed and room/ good power plug placements, TV channels, front desk. Cons: The electric kettle was dirty, may require a new replacement, didn't have the time to highlight it to the front desk. Additional portable heater could be offered during very cold days. Others: Did not have the chance to try but the restaurant is very popular.

The staff was friendly and went the extra mile! They took the time to ask questions and felt welcome. The room was very spacious with a comfortable bed and a nice shower. The choices for food from the restaurant was excellent and was reasonable priced! Definitely if I am back in the area will be staying there hands down!
Actually nothing to be honest! Met my criteria

Location, standard of food and service.
Room 18: The toilet seat does not hold up on its own, so when you're using the WC you have physically hold the seat up & when you're sitting on the toilet, the flap hits you in the back. The shower has no power, even when you have the valve fully open. The above couldn't have just happened. I didn't mention it to the staff, as I only had to suffer these issues for 3 nights and the shower this morning 06/11/23

Breakfast was very good, generous, freshly made and good choice. Didn't have to book a time which was nice as it was more relaxing to just come down when ready. Staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful
Room was cold on arrival but there was a plug in radiator which I could use to warm the room up. Bathroom didn't have a heated towel rail which is always a nice thing to have but it was a small bathroom so probably not a lot of room for it.

The staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The lounge area where dinner was served was bright, spacious and attractive. Dinner on both evenings was excellent, with a wide ranging choice on the menu and the food cooked to order. I don't eat a cooked breakfast but was happy with the choice of cereal, fruit and yoghurt. The bed was very comfy, the room was clean and fresh looking but the decor was a bit dated.
The 'en suite' bathroom was very disappointing. It consisted of a very small, narrow room housing toilet and shower only, with the sink standing (in vanity unit) in the bedroom itself. Every time I ran water in the sink it made an annoying glugging noise for quite sometime afterwards. All this was unexpected after viewing a typical double room with a modern en suite on the website.

Breakfast was plated to order and was excellent. Quirky, old, building makes a nice change from the concrete block hotel chains. Well placed for the town centre, it's literally a 5 minute walk to the High Street.
Sound of an immersion tank filling up somewhere above me was quite intrusive. It was only in the evening and morning, not during the night, so didn't disrupt my sleep.
