This is a hotel with great staff and a lovely atmosphere. The decor and furnishings are lovely making the stay at this hotel feel special but still comfortable and friendly. I would definitely return. The food was lovely and our King Suite with balcony on the 8th floor was really fantastic. We will return in the summer to thoroughly enjoy the skyline and the cathedral which is practically next door. No problems with lifts or wifi. I slept well as the bed was extremely comfortable.

I would have liked more milk in the room for drinks, please. The hotel is hard to find if you don't know Exeter and there is no hotel car park. We walked quite a long way with heavy bags in the pouring rain which was not a good start. There is a fiendish one-way system so make sure you plan a route carefully. A fan in the room would be nice.

The roof top terrace was lovely but would like to see it stay open longer. The rooms were beautiful, bed very comfortable. Staff very welcoming

The restaurant closed early and there was nothing else around that was open after 9pm so I was limited on food. The bar staff said to order Deliveroo but didn't feel comfortable doing that. I ordered breakfast for 7-7.30 but just before 7, reception called to say the chef was sick but could offer me pastries and coffee instead. I said yes, however, at 8am nothing had arrived and I had to checkout for a meeting. So no food the night before and no food the morning of!

Loved the decor and the reflection of what the building used to be. Nice and central to shops and restaurants which is what we were looking for. Shower was amazing and loved the Bramley products. Husband enjoyed the nespresso machine in the room.

The 4 pillows in the room were very soft, no support for side sleepers. I am pregnant and have to sleep on my side unfortunately, I did ask if they had any different pillows but nothing appeared so I used the cushions. I found this usual as hotels often have a mixture. The duvet was also a thick heavy winter one, I asked for just a plain sheet to be put in our room to use instead and nothing appeared again. So I took the duvet out and we used the cover! The rooftop bar was a nice touch, shame no Mocktail option and the service was slow (3 tables of people and 2 staff members) so we left.

The location is as good as you can get in Exeter. Next to the Cathedral. 6 minutes walk from the train station and 8 minutes walk from the bus station. It's a great base not just for seeing Exeter but exploring South Devon (Exeter has great public transport links). Our "Super King Suite with Cathedral View" was exactly what it said it was and we were delighted with it.

The only disappointment we had was the cooked breakfast. The quality of the cooking was variable and the ingredients didn't match the price. No problems with the continental buffet choice: next time we won't go for the "breakfast included" option.

Beautiful property with a fantastic renovation, lovely decor. The spa is beautiful if a little expensive, I think it should be included with the room cost but it was an extra £25 and no pool. The massive bed was incredibly comfortable and our view from the cathedral suite was fab. Amazing deep bathtub in the bathroom. The rooftop bar is a great addition, very nice cocktails. Staff all lovely especially the front desk and spa reception, feels like they really care and proud of their work.

There was a funny smell in our hallway on floor 7, the sauna in the spa is set at 40° which is not hot enough for a sauna but the hot tubs were good. No door on the shower so the bathroom floor was soaked, and we weren’t a fan of the shower, hair and bath products. The room could be a little cleaner, not awful but a couple of things had been missed.

Location, location, location... minutes from the Central Railway Station, and 2 minutes to cathedral green. Room was spacious and well appointed. Breakfasts were wonderful with good selections both hot and cold. Reception staff and restaurant staff were very efficient and friendly. The small refrigerator in the room with drinks was appreciated. Bathroom was excellent... shower sublime.

The Housekeeping staff had a problem with English which caused some expectations not to be met in a timely manner. The housekeeping manager had to be involved. She rectfied problem.

My daughter and me arrived by train for one night stay for shopping. We liked that we could check our bags and go shopping. The room was ready when you said it would be. It was very nice and the bed was very comfy. Lovely shower, really nice products to use. Would definitely stay again. Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was really nice with a good choice of items available. We also left our bags the next morning. Excellent service.

We didn't book ahead for spa treatments so none were available for us, but we will know better next time.

Very friendly staff, beautifully decorated room, clean, comfortable, good facilities and with everything you'd expect. Bar area with comfortable seats and good drinks variety. Breakfast with good continental and hot options. Colsons restaurant was nice for dinner and very accommodating to accept late orders. Cannot fault the service, accommodation and ambience. Hotel full of character and history, within great central location and close to main shopping area, restaurants and train station and car parking. Perfect!

Only one small criticism, which perhaps is more due to personal preference. I'm used to orthopedic pillows and the pillows were too soft and provided little neck support, which caused some sleep discomfort. Perhaps a pillow menu could be a suggestion to please all sleep preferences.

Location was perfect. The hotel was wonderful and the room was perfect. We had everything we needed. A great weekend. Would definitely like to return. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately on Saturday we were woken by construction work. Not ideal by any means! Explained to reception, who were brilliant, and they offered us a free breakfast. Unfortunately the noise was repeated on Sunday morning. Due to the length of the queue checking out I was unable to say about it. However the construction work was not in the hotel but in the adjoining building. This wouldn't stop me staying again. Great staff.

Location of the hotel was great, right in the centre of town. Everything is brand new and very stylish, it very modern and similar styling to a Hoxton Hotel. The room was very spacious and clean.

The service in the lobby bar was terrible, it took almost 1 hour from sitting down to actually getting our drinks. There seemed to be a lot of staff in the bar area doing nothing and that was very disappointing when compared to the standard of the hotel. The service at breakfast was also very slow and disorganised. Overall the service at the bar / restaurant needs to be improved and does not meet the quality expected for such a lovely hotel. The spa was also disappointing and if I was to stay at the hotel again I wouldn't bother going. The facilities are very limited in the spa and it was way too busy.
