The rooms are amazing, incredible decor and building has such character. The bed is so massive and comfy. Bath was heaven, such a large bright white bathroom. Everything you could need from nail file to cotton pads, shower cap etc. mini fridge in room is super helpful. Also there was a cute bed for the dog and the cutest treat bag with a ball and little goodies! Well worth the extra fee for the dog. Nice selection of food and drinks. The pool is so cool, it goes from indoor to outdoor so fun and never too busy. Generally super romantic hotel. Super friendly staff too lovely welcome! :)

This was our second visit and we chose to have breakfast out, the breakfast price was too much for us when not much vegan options. However the vegan lunch/dinner and afternoon tea options look amazing we will be back for those for sure :)

We had convenient parking. Rooms were lovely, we had two junior suites. One had a great bath and separate shower, the other a rather dated bathroom. Close to city centre and cathedral. The little swimming pool was great to lift the kids spirits after a long journey.

There was a wedding reception which meant the bar space was very busy, we didn’t use it in the end. I have stayed with hotel du vin previously and they send an email so you can preregister for your room. It’s short but it asks for your email address and name, two things they already have. It’s tedious and, when going on holiday little crappy things like that get in the way. It was raining and the parasols weren’t big enough to provide a dry place to sit outside. It was busy and manic in the building so scope to sit outside would have been welcome.

A stunning location. Set in a historical property surrounded by manicured gardens. There's a quaint beekeepers cottage and herb garden in the grounds. Wisteria, with its plaited stalk, flanks the red brick of the spa, the swimming pool, etc. I was so impressed that I had breakfast alfresco. The staff are all lovely, nothing was too much. I was made to feel incredibly welcome with my elderly dog. She was given a bed, a bowl, and dog biscuits. Needless to say, I extended my stay from 7 days to 10.

We had a really lovely room, with a decent view to rooftops, a park and distant fields. Everything worked well and the bed / pillows were comfortable. It seemed like it had been refurbished fairly recently. The air conditioning was super quiet and the room itself had virtually no noise from outside.

The bathroom was a little cosy and I am not a fan of shower-over-bath (preferring a dedicated shower space). One of the waiting staff at dinner appeared to be poorly trained and meant our experience of the restaurant was negative. However, the breakfast crew were lovely.

The room was clean and nice decor.

Noise - Our room was in a old part of the building and could hear the people talking in corridor and also our bathroom was glass block wall which let the lights in however the is no sound proofing element. The staffs were a little slow and unprofessional. It may have been because we arrived slightly early but we had to wait long time while the staff was on the computer without any communication before we decided to leave the bag and came back later. We would have had no problem coming back later if they just told us the room was not ready or there was issue with the system and we did not need to wait.

Cosy double was just as expected. Asked for a quiet room ( there was a wedding on ) and we got one with the offer to pay more for an upgrade. Only there one night so didn't need any bigger room. Pool was lovely ( helped by the glorious weather ). Car park close by was a bonus ( £18 from lunchtime to lunchtime next day was fine ). Very lucky to get a space as lots of cars drove round and round with no luck. Eggs Benedict ( with smoked salmon ) at breakfast was superb as was the salmon & scrambled eggs. Great continental offerings too ( with all the usual treats ). Well worth £20 each ! Comfy bed with lots of pillows. Plenty tea sachets & milk. Also shortbread biscuits for morning teas. Ibis take note !!

almost nothing, from check in to check out was all excellent. Laptop safe wasn't big enough and don't know if fridge minibar was meant to be stocked, but wasn't. Not a problem for us as we never use them anyway.

Beautiful hotel - lovely spacious room - extremely comfortable bed and quality linen. Pool is a very pleasant temperature and grounds and location perfect for a visit to Exeter.

None of the food on the childrens menu was available - room service menu also was limited due to availability- restaurant food very adult so this was not convenient for us when we needed to eat as a family at the hotel. It would have been preferable to have informed us of this at check in so we could make other plans for our children to eat in the evening.

Room was amazing, we got a room with a bath tub and it was worth it! It was all very clean and had everything we needed. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and the restaurant staff were also so kind, it was my 30th birthday and they all went above and beyond to make it special. The outdoor pool is heated and very warm and lovely bonus to use, nice to have the sun loungers too. We are breakfast and dinner at the restaurant and both were delicious, especially the french onion soup. All staff were amazing.

Very good breakfast in a spotless breakfast room area, with great service, and very clean kitchen visible from the breakfast room. Modernised bathroom in hotel room. Room was a little on the compact side. Lovely dimensions of overall acrhitectural shape/sizing of building (e.g. roomy hotel corridors, spacious lobby, attractive bar area and library area and roomy staircase and a strong sense of history, in the and of the, building. A few minutes' walk from Cathedral Green and surrounding old-world buildings. Very helpful reception staff who gave me interesting brochure on the history of the building. Hotel is keen to send messages before arrival; the intentions of this are good.

Parking charge needs to be made clearer upfront, rather than (it becoming clear to me) after booking the room. Hotel is keen to send messages before arrival; the intentions of this are good, but I hadn't expected having to "check in online" before; it felt a little as if I was checking in for a flight rather than a hotel room.

The staff were wonderful and couldn’t do enough to help. They remembered you from previous conversations and always made you feel valued. The room was excellent as expected.

We were at a wedding away from the venue. We couldn’t check in early so had to rely on getting our room key when returning from the wedding. We returned at midnight and the door was locked. I don’t expect this from a hotel - I don’t want to feel like I am rousing the owner of a B&B. You are a hotel - you’re door should be open.
