Outstanding staff were a key feature of our 3 night stay. Carly and Geraldine on Reception were a delight. Karen at the Bar was lovely. Breakfast staff were excellent. Comfortable beds, spacious room, quiet, great air con/heating. Breakfast had plenty of variety and a gluten free station with 3 items and toaster. Staff did not rush guests out like a lot of chain hotels. Cosy bar area. We received a complimentary free drink in the bar each and 3 coffee vouchers each. Also a free 2 hour late checkout. We will definitely stay again when next visiting Exeter.

We had a fridge in our room but I don't think it worked very well if at all. The hairdryer in the room was broken. We would have eaten in the restaurant, however there were very limited gluten free vegetarian/vegan options.

Friendly warm welcome with complementary glass of fizz and mince pie, friendly service during check in with complementary coffee vouchers for each day in the room the beds very comfy, the room was pleasant nice decor, bathroom very small but had a bath and a very powerful shower i liked the option to book the breakfast at the hotel and it was a buffet style the bar was handy and staff pleasant also the free WiFi was great addition to the stay

The bathroom was a little small, not enough storage/shelf space in the bathroom the tv kept going off during one of our evening but the WiFi meant could watch on my phone

We stayed at the hotel over New Year for 2 nights, it's the best hotel we have stayed in together. the location is very good right next to the shops and bars, and the car park opposite was very easy and could be sorted from the hotel. There were welcome drinks and Prosecco given out at midnight along with vouchers for complimentary drinks at the bar; they were very nice touches to our trip. the rooms were very comfortable and the housekeeping staff were very good. all the staff were lovely and friendly, but Karen in the bar made our evenings and our days for us and she was so lovely and friendly to talk to and really made us welcome and feel at home. actually, we had such a good time here that my partners brother and his wife came to join us the second night on our recommendation of how nice it was. we all had a lovely time.

nothing! but just a suggestion?. we stayed over new year not really knowing the area well as to where to go, we had tickets in advance for one place but after we got there it didn't look nice so we didn't stay. we went back to the hotel and we had a lovely evening seeing in the new year at the bar. the punch was lovely! it would be a great idea, i think for the hotel to put on a disco in future and have their own party for the guests.. it was very quiet in the bar until 1am and then it was packed out so if u did something in future with music or perhaps a small charge for a buffet say £10pp more people would stay at the hotel and enjoy the lovely hospitality that this hotel offers.

I have stayed at this hotel for work a number of times and as I knew it, decided to book to stay here when visiting Exeter with my Mum. The hotel is in a great location for the city centre with car parking nearby. The staff are always friendly. Breakfast is great.

The room was a little tired and could do with having the bathroom spruced. The sealant around the bath had black patches of mould/mildew which made it look unclean. The soap dispensers in the shower were brown with dirt on top (I assume that the reason for this is the bottles are just topped up in situ, rather than being taken out of the holder to refill and wipe over?) That said, you could tell that the room had been cleaned well in all other areas. The black areas of sealant need replacing as it is impossible for housekeeping to clean it away and makes their job harder.

The welcome was lovely! We were given a refreshment on arrival! Room was clean and tidy. The entrance and reception area was very festive! Great location for shopping! If you park in the car park they recommend, they can organise some cheaper parking. Staff were great!

It looked like there may have been a snack for those who arrived earlier! As there were crumbs on a labelled stand! (The snack would have been welcomed!) There is also a complementary hot chocolate machine in the restaurant, but it was always empty! We had coffee in the restaurant in the evening - I think the machine isn't set up right? The mugs were small and half filled! Impressed they had a gluten free stand... But it wasn't well stocked. Only 2 pieces of bread left and some cereal available. A gluten free muffin or pastry would have been lovely (I think I have had them at other Leonardo hotels).

The lobby, halls and room, were very good and of a style you expect form this type of hotel. The staff are very friendly and the whole experience made for a good weekend. Its a short, easy walk in to city center and for those wanting the cinema ,its across the street. The council carpark is right behind the hotel.

The room overlooked the street and even with the windows closed there is traffic noise, not too intrusive but certainly enough, which was surprising given the double glazing. We ate in the first night, having eaten in on previous stays, but the food was not as tasty and the service patchy.

Breakfast was great. Fantastic choice and quality of food. No complaints with breakfast

When we checked in I spelt my name twice to the lady on reception she gave us our key and went to room which was supposed to be twin but was double. I did not complain as thought they had run out of twins and was sharing with my daughter. After a while our phone rang to say they had given us the wrong room and would we come to reception. Before we got our case and coat the Gentlenan who's room it wax let himself into the room. He should nit of been given his key until we were out and had handed the key back to reception. It could of been very embarrassing. Not happy at all

We were very lucky to receive a room upgrade and the staff went out of thier way to make our big anniversary date special - this was lovely, thank you! Staff were friendly and attentive. Hotel a 10min walk to city centre, which was great. The items you can buy at reception for snacks, drinks or forgotten items was convenient. The room was nice, bright, quiet and ambient.

The bed is not the most comfortable, premier inn mattresses are superior. The shower temperature of room 523 kept fluctuating from too hot to too cold - frustrating. The breakfast wasn't the best, sausages not of great quality, coffee bitter, orange juice weak and lacking in hash browns. Holiday Inn breakfast superseded the Leonardo breakfast in these areas.

Staff - all staff (apart from 1 receptionsist who checked me out) were superb. Customer service is clearly a 'thing' at the hotel and the staff were friendly and extremely helpful, with the added bonus of some humour thrown in as well. The decor in the room was pleasant and fresh and the linen sheets were of a high quality. The selection for breakfast was very good - my only slight grumble was as a vegetarian, there was no meat free version of the traditional sausage/bacon which would have made it even better for me. The discounted parking was much appreciated!

I had booked a double room but I was given a room with a double bed and a single- this meant there was very little floor space and I felt it was cramped- hence I selected 'no' to recommendation for a romantic stay but other rooms may have been more suitable for this. The bathroom was very cramped - could not even get to the toilet without shutting the door and there was unfortunately some pubic hair in the bath.

The hotel is friendly and welcoming. We stayed for the Exeter university open day. The bar staff were so helpful, having obviously met lots of visiting students and parents to the city. We learnt lots about the city and the student life. The breakfast was very good (apart from no has browns) and check in and out was speedy. The hotel was immaculately clean. The hotel is a 25 minute walk from St David’s rail station on the opposite side of town. Don’t recommend walking if you have bulky heavy luggage as it’s very hilly. But it’s a five minute walk from the shops and sites so great location overall!
