Location is fabulous. Rooms are beautifully decorated. Lovely touches and lovely selection of complementary products to use. Some lovely homely attributes with eye masks and ear plugs. Quiet considering top floor room over looking the street. Staff really helpful. Great value. Perfectly located for all the main tourist attractions. Great experience. Luggage facilities are available with the staff if required

No Air conditioning. Though the rooms are finished to an exceptional standard it was very hot in room six on the top floor. Fans are provided but don’t really do much. The window only opens a few inches at the front. The back one is sealed so no through air flow which would help cool the place. No lift and a lot of stairs for luggage, but manageable.

An ale drinker's paradise, with a micro-brewery on site and a host of ales on tap, this city centre bar is a great social venue. But it is more than a bar; the accommodation is on a par with (and with superior staff to) many superior hotels - at a fraction of the price. It is situated on the main shopping street in Exeter, and quite literally 30 seconds walk to the historic cathedral or restaurants like The Ivy.

These are not criticisms, but a heads-up for anyone with disabilities or those looking for a quiet location: It is an old building and there are several flights of stairs with narrow space which would make it difficult for those with an inability to negotiate same. Additionally, it is a thriving city-centre bar, so do expect noise (athough the hosts have kindly thought to provide earplugs).

Weds night - Comfy bed, friendly staff, good downstairs bar with lots of space, upstairs rooms good clientele. Brew their own beers which can be bought in 3rds for a top tasting treat. House red fine for partner. Breakfast not available during weekdays but Greggs two doors down. Room had all mod cons plus a coffee maker and dyson fan. What's not to like!!!

It's on the High Street so don't moan about the noise. Free earplugs which we didn't need.

on arrival we where all impressed with the service and how friendly the staff were. the pub/bar it’s self was clean with a great atmosphere. all of the girls commented how when I’m the rooms you couldn’t hear the customers in the bar, you didn’t even realise you where above a busy pub. the separate entrance with your own key was a great touch. close to everything you need whilst staying in the city. very impressed. the decor was lovely and all in the group commented on how lovely it was and how spacious the rooms where. the beds where perfect, we had a great nights sleep. highly recommend staying there if visiting the city.

only thing I would say could be an issue was the amount of stairs you had to climb to get to the rooms, not an issue for us but could be a problem for someone with mobility issues

Central location and very nicely decorated room! Very convenient for shopping, eating and drinking. Comfortable bed with high quality tea and coffee available in the room. We arrived very early but the staff were very kind to let us drop our suitcases till later checkin.

Sadly there’s no lift/ elevator so it’s very hard to move heavy suitcases on stairs. Although there were ear plugs provided, it is very loud until 1-2am in the morning. If you’re very sensitive to noise or going to bed early, this is not a place for you.

Excellent and comfortable room right in the heart of the City. Really friendly and welcoming staff and although they pointed out it was going to be noisy up to about 1:30am when the donwstairs bars closed it was not overly noisy. I would guess like others staying at this location I was out on the town until the early hours of the morning anyway. Great location also for the Phoenix Centre - a concert there got my night in Exeter under way - and also of course the Turks Head Bars just down the stairs from the room.

Nothing.

Location excellent. Breakfast excellent.

Initially put us in a room that did not represent the pictures on bookings com or the particulars, i.e no view. Could not even see out of the windows. Could not get shower hot. However were great at resolving and moved us to the room pictured on the second night. Great room, comfy bed and hot shower.

Great little place to stay in an excellent location. We stayed on a Thursday and Friday night and had no issues with noise, even though it is located above the pub.

There are a number of steep stairs, but once your suitcases are up, they are up. People with mobility issues may have difficulty with the stairs. We were disappointed that the pub was not more lively.

Room was comfortable, bit small for friends but would be okay for couple. Was told it was a smaller room before booking so it was expected! exceptionally clean and appreciated the interior and amenities e.g coffee machine etc. also liked that we could let ourselves in/ out with ease at night. considering you are staying above a busy bar, it’s not too noisy!

price was quite high considering there is not breakfast but appreciate that it’s in the middle of a city! didn’t enjoy having to go into the bar to check in especially when it’s full of people drinking but understandable. we also stood at the bar for a good 5 minutes before somewhere asked if they could help us!

Overall it was a very nice room. The bed was really comfortable and we had everything we needed in the room.

There was no heating on in the room which was odd considering it was only 7 degrees outside. This meant the towel rail was not on so the towels stayed damp but were changed the next day. It was pretty chilly in the room but on the plus side the bed was super cosy and we didn’t wake up with a stuffy nose. I am sure if we asked they would have put the heating on.
