Very convenient location, all basic facilities are available and there’s parking nearby; very friendly and warm staff and charming decor. Breakfast was wholesome and well and prepared.

If you are spoilt for mini bars and room service then that’s something you might miss them : )

Friendly, accommodating staff made it a lovely stay. Good breakfast. good selection of teas and coffee, etc in the room Very good value for money. Dulverton, a characterful little place for a short stay.

Just 2 things - although it was no problem for the wood burner to be lit when we asked, just think it would have created a cosier atmosphere had it been lit as a matter of course of an evening. Also for the heating to be on in the bedroom upon arrival ( but to be fair the hotel didn't know what time we were arriving) - and it didn't take long to warm up once we turned it on.

Great little hotel. Quirky and laid out a bit like Fawlty Towers. Thank you to Pete and the family for being so welcoming. We were also able to lock our bikes up securely in the store room. Excellent home made curry in the evening.

This hotel is not graded as a 5 star hotel and so what we got bearing this in mind, was a really comfy room, comfortable bed, and the bedding was of really good quality. The shower worked well, the staff were really helpful and very nice. The meal both in the evening and for breakfasts exceeded our expectations. We took the dog and we were made to feel welcome with her. They were not at all stingy with the extras - eg teas, coffees, biscuits, shower gels, shampoos, etc and the towels were of 5 star quality and size. Overall we had a fantastic time. They booked carparking for us at £3 per day in whichever car park. What more could we want.

Nothing. It was all very comfy. Whilst the plumbing was probably a challenge for them, it worked really well for us. We thought the dining area was really nice and there was somewhere nice to lounge and just have a drink.

We had a lovely stay. It’s a great base to explore the area which was beautiful. Dulverton was a great little find for our family! Lovely staff, particularly the lady serving us at breakfast was genuinely so kind and welcoming it was a brilliant start to our day! She couldn’t do enough for us and our children. The last morning she knew what we wanted and brought our children a lovely tea pot and made their day being “grown up”. A true gem x

Mostly great. It’s friendly staff, good breakfast with the most lovely waitress who couldn’t do enough for us. Just a bit dated and bar prices we found were high, we ran out of toilet paper twice as a family of four but once we asked staff it was sorted quickly. It would be nice to have been replenished when they came to the room each day.

Breakfast and quality of ingredients were excellent. Very nice staff.

The windows in our room didn't open (Room 1) and the heating was either very hot or off as the dial on the radiator was not working. Without the heating it was OK but it would be better if there were a way to get ventilation in the room.

Great location in the centre of Dulverton. Big room, comfy beds with pristine good quality bed linen, plenty of hot water and good hospitality tray. The breakfast was excellent too. We didn’t eat dinner at the hotel but there are plenty of nice places to eat it the town. Good value for money, I would have rated it a 10 if not for the location of our room

We booked a superior room, which had two windows, the first looking out onto a blank wall that couldn’t be opened because the kitchen extraction fan was there and it was very noisy during meal preparation times. The other window opened onto the back of the restaurant kitchen next door, and another kitchen extraction fan which meant if the window was open you get the cooking smells from next door into the room. I’m not sure I would say it was worth the upgrade from the standard room because of this Wi-Fi erratic and the service a little haphazard but the staff are all polite and I should emphasise we had a really nice stay despite the room issues.

We absolutely loved the Lion Hotel in Dulverton. Some would say it’s looking a little tired, but we say it has a faded grandeur that makes you feel relaxed and at home. The hosts were very friendly and the breakfasts were cooked to order and delicious. One night we had a 3 course dinner which was excellent and reasonably priced. The hotel was clean, comfortable and located conveniently in the town centre. Parking is in the local carpark and the hotel give you it at a discount of £3 a day instead of £5. We’ll definitely be back.
