The crowning glory of this place was Tom who ran the front desk and the bar. I would go back just for this gentleman alone. He is a gem! So enthusiastic and kind. He ran from behind the counter to greet us with key in hand every time we returned...it wasn't always the right key (we had several rooms) but who cares!? He is a treasure. Breakfast was first-rate - they take your order the night before. Feeding four teenaged boys is no easy feat and everyone really liked it. The glassed in bar and breakfast area has one of the best views in the world. The Oban bay is breathtaking.

This hotel has not been upgraded in decades (many many decades) and the rooms are funky, oddly configured and awkward. But for the money, a great value, and for the benefits of the bar, the staff and breakfast...totally worth it!

Hotel bit dated food left a lot to be desired the good thing was the outstanding beautiful panoramic view from window oban is and always will be a special place to us and as hotels go you live and learn

The light in the toilet was so dull it was a waste of time using it the complimentry shampoo was empty room could do with a deep clean as previous guests litter under bed was still there a lot of dust n general grime breakfast was ok but missing beans and every time i went to bar for a drink the barmade was either on her phone or playing pool i waited 12 mins to get served after that chose to go else where

Everything about the hotel was a old hotel with character. It's not a 5star hotel so don't if you book don't expect a 5 star room. If you wanted that then there's hotels in oban that you can get. But what you get is value for money. Room was comfortable (24) great view over the sea yes there walls outside but the veiw towards Atlantic is fantastic. You had a ensuite with aduiqate shower facilities. Staff was friendly. Welcoming. Great location out of the bustle of the Town centre but close enough to walk. Within about 10 mins stroll you were at the ferry terminal. Breakfast was plentiful had a good choice. Definitely book here again.

Nothing wrong with hotel.

The staff were great, especially the morning clerk. We asked about takeaway coffee, but that wasn't something they did and our bus was picking us up too close for us to go all the way into the main area for coffee. She offered to figure out a way to get us cups of coffee to go even though she very much went out of her way to do so. She was wonderful and it made our morning. The place was kitschy old and we thought it was charming. It was very old and dated but that was part of what we enjoyed. Everything was clean and the shower was very hot. I had a good night's sleep, a hot shower, and the view when leaving is just gorgeous. Our room itself looked out over a rooftop but the view from the front of the hotel was great!

There were a lot of stairs and when you're tired and lugging a suitcase, it made you wish for a lift. The beds were very firm, but not uncomfortable. The shower could have used a little more oomph for tired travelers. For what we paid and what we got, it was pretty much on par with what we expected. I could see how many people would say it's too old and outdated and it honestly is, but to us that was charming. We enjoyed it.

The staff are so genuinely friendly and nice to chat too, they made us feel so welcome and obviously love Oban and are rightly proud of it it’s a beautiful town with the best seafood from multiple outlets from restaurants chip shops and seafood also cooked outside at the harbour! You end up eating more than you think you could! Located right on the water amazing views an a short walk to town with parking it’s an old hotel and has caricature, yes the room could be updated but it was clean and comfortable the price reflects what it is like and is fair, also we were able to have our dog with us on holiday! We sat across from the hotel most nights with food and drinks on the beach! We will definitely be back I hope they don’t change a thing in the hotel! Hats off to all the staff we met Or didn’t meet like the housekeepers working in the background to keep the place so clean! We have stayed in three and four and 5 star hotels not as clean or nearly as friendly as this place! Relaxing escape!

Not a thing! We could have stayed next door for 1 night for twice what it cost for 3 nights here!

Staff! Fantastic welcome at reception. The small print requires that breakfast is booked the night before. I didn't see that and when asked there was some doubt whether I could be accommodated on a very busy day. However, the dining staff not only fitted me in and set up a reserved table for me in just a couple of minutes, their service was excellent and very quick. Thank you! The passageway and rooms were quirky and a bit dated (loved the display case of mini statues of Napoleon, Wellington and horses) but that's a typical UK characterful hotel for you :) The shower room facility was brand new and very clean.

No lift. Although not advertised, when the booking confirmation arrived, it went on at length about the swimming and leisure facilities being closed, post covid and due to energy prices. If I had been staying for more than one night, I would gladly have paid the extra for use of facilities. On balance, I get that impact and the fact that as a busy harbour place and gateway to the isles, the town is probably used to transient visitors.

The people were amazing and happy considering the lack of staff. The hotel workers were very welcoming, and all had smiles as soon as you went to the front desk or passed any of the workers. It had a family feel about it, which made you relax straight away. It also allowed dogs, which i really liked. Once again, i would definitely go back and take my Yorkie next time. A big well done to the lovely cleaner with the blonde hair. She never stopped cleaning. She sang as she was cleaning. I will definitely be back and will be letting my friends know of this gem.it may need painted and touched up. The staff made up for it as it was definitely a home from home. Thank you so much. 3 day holiday was just what my pal and i needed. Keep up the good work. Thanks again to the Lancaster team.x

When i was going to read, put the light on above the bed, and dirt and dust fell on my head. Got more of a fright than anything else. A lot of the amenities were not open as they had no staff. So, there is no swimming pool, sauna, and spa open. Having staff would be a plus as the ones that were there were overworked and possibly underpaid. It could do with a coat of paint and fix up the ceilings as the wallpaper was a bit shabby and needed updated.

The location and price were great. nothing fancy, but you get what you pay for and I thought this was great value for money. The room was comfortable, I slept well, the shower was great, the location was fantastic and the breakfast was lovely. Also the staff were lovely.

The light bulb in room 9 (I think it was 9) was terrible. I put it on and you could barely tell I'd put it on. I had to use the light above the sink and the bedside light in order to see anything.

Great location, with parking outside. Great cooked breakfast. Good price for the room. Lovely views from dining room and seating area. Very pleasant and helpful staff.

Single room was quite spacious, however, the furnishings in the room are old and tired and in urgent need of replacement. The bed creaked and groaned with every movement I made and must have disturbed other residents. The electric shower head kept sliding down the pole and was unable to be secured.

Being on your own always means a small room, but it was comfortable and provided what I needed. The hotel's cleanliness was great and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast cost a little extra on my booking but was excellent and served up speedily. The location is good, slightly away from the often crowded centre but still near enough, and with an excellent view overlooking Oban bay with glorious sunsets while I was there,
