Despite having seen the photos and having read the reviews of other customers, I was amazed at the beauty of the whole place when I got there. The hotel is located in a wonderful spot by the shores of Loch Awe, yet the first impression of elegance and beauty you get is outmatched by the interior of the hotel and the professional and caring staff. Rooms are awesome and totally comfortable, while the halls of the hotel include dining rooms, a lounge bar and halls with sofa and boardgames, complete with a billiard hall. Just few meters outside the hotel a beautiful spot is set by the lake, with armchairs and brazers, a fairy garden with fairy dwellings overlooks the area and a private pier awaits curious customers over a lovely ironwrought archway covered in ivy. To put it in few words, this is a place you cannot miss if you plan to enjoy your time in the Argyll area. In my opinion, this is the perfect place to live an unforgettable experience.

Absolutely nothing. Everything was perfect.

It was our second time staying at Taychreggan and we loved it even more this time around. The hotel is absolutely stunning; beautiful decor, rooms, garden; everything is gorgeous. The staff are super welcoming and friendly and can’t do enough for you! They are also really inclusive of dogs and gave us a choice of room as we had two with us, so the manager allowed us to view both rooms and see which we felt was more suitable for us which was lovely. The additions of dog towels, treats and toys is also such a lovely touch. The food is out of this world; it is absolutely delicious! They have a good choice of dishes on the menu so definitely something to suit everyone. The room itself was beautifully clean, as well as the entire hotel! You can tell the team take a lot of pride in Taychcreggan and it really shows. It is probably our favourite hotel to stay in in Scotland and we will forever recommend it to others.

Absolutely nothing - both times we have stayed here it has been delightful. We cannot fault a thing.

The road in is not for the faint of heart - it is 10 miles of single track for the most part, up and down, twists and turns. But it is totally worth it. Taychreggan is gorgeous, in the most gorgeous location ever. It is super pet friendly. It is location directly on the loch an surrounded by hills and mountains. I wanted to stay there forever. The food, in their AA rosette-awarded restaurant, is superb. They have a separate bar with fireplace and several lounges, all with stunning views. The location is quiet and serene. The staff is great, and kudos to Ivan, who assisted us with our auto's flat tire and with the rental car staff; he told them off, saying it was totally their fault as the tires were bald and should never have been rented like that!

That I had to leave!

Exceptional place in a simply stunning location. Admittedly we lucked out timing-wise - very good (almost freakishly good) weather made our stay all the more enjoyable; felt like we were in the Med as we sipped beers looking out across the flat calm of Loch Awe. But even in more typical Scottish weather, this hotel's incredible setting makes it somewhere truly stand-out. The fact that the staff (a great team), rooms, facilities and food are also more than up to scratch ensure this place is nothing short of a real gem in the wilds of picture-perfect Argyll. Assuming they maintain such high standards - and I have no reason to believe they won't - Taychreggans is truly somewhere to be treasured.

Beautiful building , sympathetic decor, in truly tranquil surroundings. Old fashioned comfort, good food, attentive, friendly staff. We had a spacious room with double aspect windows and everything we needed. The bar and lounges were welcoming and furnished with tasteful, extremely comfortable sofas and chairs. The loch view from the restaurant was stunning- and could be enjoyed from every table.A unique little gem of a hotel !

It seems churlish to mention but the bedroom needs updating ( NOT the bed, which was very comfortable). The staff were marvellous, but seemed very busy indeed, each performing a range of tasks , seemingly both day and night. A case of understaffing, perhaps? And parts of the building are in need of refurbishment- not areas which affected our comfort, but it is such a beautiful building it deserves some TLC!

Everything was good, service, food, location. Hotel set in a lovely location and it does have those little added touches as in sitting outside on the lochside in the evening with fire lit, a cosy wrap and a glass of wine. Best bit is there's nothing else at the end of the road but the hotel and the loch...no traffic for miles. Due for some refurbishment soon and this hotel will be hard to beat for a quiet time away....with nice food (which could have up'd its mark slightly) and excellent service.

Room was ok but could do with a little TLC...especially in the pillow department, toilet was bit noisy due to plumbing which was probably because it is such an old building. The food was good, not outstanding. Apart from that nothing to dislike.....

It’s on an exquisite location on the side of Loch Awe. There are little paths around the hotel to private wee spots and nooks on the rocks or in the woods with a little bench or table, where you can update your diary, or look at the scenery, or meditate on the beauty of the place. The trees around are filled with birds And you can hear the soft lowing and bleating from a little farm across the way. We were there at the end of May and of course the sunset takes about four hours and doesn’t finally go down until past 11 so you can sit out at the wee fire pits, sipping your wine or scotch looking at the lake. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. All amenities are offered. and our dinner was just delicious. There’s a very well stocked bar and many lounges with fireplaces.

The hotel is a good 30 minutes off the main highway if you’re heading to Oban or Skye or back to Glasgow. It’s on a tiny B Rd., which means only one-way traffic in some spots. So driving for a foreigner is a bit tiring but it’s a lovely drive and then you are well rewarded when you see the destination across the lake.

Breathtaking location on the shores of Loch Awe, friendly staff, a comfortable hotel, lots to do, very dog friendly, a great place to relax and ponder the meaning of life, write a best seller novel, figure out how to make the world a better place for all, contemplate your next choice of whisky, debate the merits of haggis over black pudding and perhaps go wild swimming but then again perhaps not.

Restaurant dinner was OK but did not shine, needs a little more thought and passion to lift it to the next level. But otherwise nothing negative to say about this charming hotel.

Excellent staff from cleaning staff to (Michelle) owner. Despite catering for pets (in all manners of luxury!) the cleanliness of the hotel & grounds was exceptional. The views were stunning & every aspect of our stay (humans & pets!) was brilliant. The array of treats, toys, towels etc for our dog was really appreciated.

The scope for walking from the hotel (without walking along connecting road) was a little bit more limited than I anticipated. I expected to be able to walk along / around Loch for miles straight from the hotel.

Got upgraded and had beautiful view over the water at sunset. Great ambience - Decor inside (including lighting, fire, and candles”) and out beautiful. Loved watching the birds at the bird feeders and sun reflecting on windows at sunset. One of the staff keeps beautiful diverse range of hens. Breakfast staff (female swimmer) and manager (male Romanian?) were so helpful in giving recommendations on best beaches (we back tracked and went to both), where to find highland cows (found them) and seals (could see them in the distance). Loved the breakfast selection and they accommodated me tasting the salmon, while having another breakfast main dish.

1 female staff member (east European?) found her rather frosty, definitely not warm with us. Makes you wonder why she is in this business. The rest were all excellent.
