Our stay at The Gallivant ticked all boxes for a 1 night getaway; was looking for somewhere near the beach to blow the January cobwebs away and from the pics and description looked more like an LA surf beach inspired hotel. On arrival it was so much more; lovely warm welcome, cosy nooks to sit & relax or enjoy the fire, our room was stylish but without shouting it, and terrace doors opening onto the beach style communal gardens, a bonus for our frenchie. Dinner was delcious, without being fussy but I rate places based on their ability to make a good cocktail, and Oscar didn't blink twice when requested to make a negroni spagliate.

I loved the cozy comfort of the hotel and the friendliness of the staff, and I loved the fact that food/drinks were sourced locally where possible. The food was consistently delicious and plentiful, and the menu for dinner was different, so was exciting. It was a really relaxing weekend by the sea. The beach was lovely, and I wish we had tried the afternoon fish n chips takeaway. Our room was perfect for us, I didn’t think it needed to be any bigger, we had everything in it that we could possibly need, coffee, tea, milk, fridge, dressing gowns, iron/iron board, toiletries… and it was so quiet. Not being a dog lover, I thought the fact the Gallivant allowed dogs would be bother to me, however, I hardly noticed they were there, which was a bonus. Happiness IS a place and I think the Gallivant IS it! I would definately visit again.

The breakfast was delicious, although personally I would prefer a normal cooked breakfast. The brioche buns just reminded me of McDonalds. 😬

Ideal location for visiting Camber & Rye. Stylish coastal decor, beautiful outdoor space to enjoy a meal. Quiet, relaxed vibes.

Rooms didn’t have air con which is surprising considering they are small and the price per night. No drinks facilities in the rooms. Shower filled up when in use and flooded the floor. Car park is small and difficult to manoeuvre. We changed our room due to bringing our dog, and I believe in doing so we were changed on to the dinner, bed and breakfast rate and nobody told us so we missed out on our second night dinner as we went out instead which we were hugely disappointed about on check out since we had paid a lot to be there.

The staff were lovely and the room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was really good! The lady serving breakfast was really friendly and helpful.

It felt expensive for what it was. The room was nice, but it was quite small and although we thoroughly enjoyed breakfast, having to pay extra when we had already paid £200 for the room was rather annoying. It was clear at the time of booking so I don't think the establishment did anything wrong, but I just don't think the room by itself was worth that amount of money. I think my attitude to the cost of the room would have been very different if breakfast had been included as paying £200 for the whole experience of room + breakfast would have felt worth it.

Interesting dinner menu and wine list; well executed cooking . Not exceptional but good, nice cocktails in a pleasant bar. General ambience is relaxed and low key with attentive and friendly staff. Breakfast maintains the “health vibe” and is nicely presented . Book a room to the back of house if possible, these have a small terrace in a pretty, serene garden .

Room too small for the price with no facility to hang clothes but nicely decorated in a cape cod beach style . Adequate for a weekend , no hand shower in the bathroom but clean and a reasonable size.

Always a luxury experience at the Gallivant. From the moment you enter until check out time the staff are on hand to cater for your every need. The ambiance is cosy yet sofisticated, think the Ivy by the sea. The food is always seasonal and localy sourced and meets the highest standards. The rooms are comfortable and clean and it's adults only so its peaceful and relaxing. We have a little dog and he loves it too, being able to go to the beach and have him stay with us is a great treat for us all.

Our only issue was a side order which came with an ingreaient we'd asked to have omited. The staff again went out of their way to rectify the issue once we realised it.

The Luxury Kingsize room was beautiful, lovely big bath, with doors onto a garden area, which had gorgeous planting. The bar and snug were very warm, homely & comfortable.

Nothing I didn’t like about the property. Disappointed to not get our 3 massage bookings when I had requested them. I was asked if the times were ok but unfortunately my return message failed to arrive & the massage slots were given to others. Would have been more professional to call or send 2nd message saying we haven’t heard from you.

The Gallivant is a hidden gem of a hotel. Channelling a shabby beach chic it's the sort of place where you relax the minute you walk through the door. The bar has a great selection of English wine and dinner was excellent. Breakfast is delicious - worth the trip. Rooms are modest but comfortable and we loved the Bamford productions. We had to leave early otherwise I'd have taken part in the complimentary yoga class. Would thoroughly recommend.

The heating hadn't been on for long so our room was cold. Our booking was last minute so not really their fault.

Very friendly helpful staff. Lovely breakfast. Clean with delightful ambience. Really relaxing environment.

Extractor fan in the bathroom not working and not sorted during our stay. Although staff very friendly and helpful, the wrong order was sometimes brought to our dining table (which they always sorted) and waiter/waitress service was a little bit hit and miss (for example, my aperitif was brought to the table between the starter and main course on one occasion).

The best welcome we've ever received, in all our travels - thanks Nakita. Beautiful room, we were given an upgrade to one overlooking the gardens. Great location, the cleanest beach in the UK (in my opinion). You can grab a picnic rug from reception and order cocktails to take with you to the beach at sunset. Cake in the afternoon - heaven. I liked the water bottle system too, brilliant idea. Nice toiletries in the bathroom and big fluffy robes. Loved the decor and design, comfortable but chic.

Breakfast was a disaster. It took an hour to just get a coffee. We were told that we couldn't place our breakfast order because the kitchen had too many orders already. What??? Dinner was a bit hit and miss. No logic to the chef bringing the main course plates, not the main course itself. Wine at five (don't call it wine o'clock or you'll be in trouble!), lovely idea but it'd be nice to have a choice. We were given rose. I hate rose. Not a fan of the two tier system. I understand it but especially at breakfast it'd be nice to be given the choice of ordering (and paying extra) for stuff from the full menu. Or in the evening, it wouldn't break the bank for everyone to get some bed time tea.
