Really lovely hotel, made to feel very welcome by amazing staff. Our room was lovely, and the bed was a great size and comfy. Gorgeous breakfast. Amazing views, and overall we loved it.

Parking is a bit of a pain (not the hotel's fault) but we received good advice as to where the leave the car (Rope Street car park, £2.50 for 24 hours).

Room, staff all good. Very good breakfast. Also, like the fact that there is a reusable stainless steel bottle of water rather than ridiculous plastic water bottles.

This charming hotel is in a fabulous location with lovely views and it has a sense of history as soon as you step inside. Very quick check in by friendly staff and we liked the fact that we were asked to choose our cooked breakfast items and time in advance so that it meant breakfast service was efficient and no waiting around. The quality of ingredients was excellent and the staff at breakfast were also great. There are some cosy areas to sit and chat and a nice bar to relax with a beer. We were also given happy hour ticket which was a nice touch. Lovely room with great views, nice bed linen and very comfortable bed.

The staff were friendly, communicative, and helpful. Location was perfect for my requirements. Building was charming and one could feel the character of Rye. The deep bath with hot running water was exactly what was needed after a 5 hour drive in horrendous wintery and dark road conditions.

Due to age and traditional English setup, my room was a little tired with unavoidable historic stains around the room but it did feel clean. This can be changed with a more European hard flooring and a new bed throw. Parking is also an issue as only possible out of day peak times, although alternative paid parking were around the town.

Everything was absolutely outstanding. The staff were lovely, the room was beautiful and clean, and when we didn't have a toilet brush in the room, we were provided one instantly. When we checked in, the receptionist gave us tips and recommendations for things to do and restaurants to eat at. The hotel also a little pub with outside seating looking over the town (the hotel is located on top of a little hill). Stunning!

Breakfast: you can pick and choose from cereal, to pastries, to fruit and yoghurt, to meats and cheeses, to a full English breakfast. You can also order just the eggs or hash brown from the full English. Only downside: no "proper" coffee, there were only sachets of instant coffee and a a Nescafé instant coffee machine, so the coffee didn't taste great unfortunately.

We stayed midweek, from Tuesday to Friday, in the "Hope and Anchor." in Rye. The hotel staff were exceptionally polite, helpful and friendly during our stay and gave us a great welcome. . The hotel had traditional styled bedrooms.Our room was clean and comfortable with ensuite facilities, tea and coffee making facilities, tv etc. It had great views of Rye and the surrounding country side. It was cleaned on a daily basis. Our breakfast was extremely good, with a choice of a cooked breakfast, or a continental style breakfast. The food was locally sourced. The location of the hotel is ideal for a walk around Rye. I would recommend a stay in this beautiful hotel and definitely a return visit.

The weather!!

The Hope Anchor has a commanding position in Rye overlooking the creek and countryside. Reached by a short walk up a gentle incline, from the bottom of the old town with several car parks nearby. The staff are very welcoming, friendly and responsive to any queries. There is an excellent choice at breakfast from cereals, meat & cheese, yoghurt, fruit and pastries,, to traditional full English and by pre ordering the night before, the service is very well organised. The four poster suite was very comfortable and quiet, so a good night's sleep followed and the bathroom, with a bath as well as a shower had plenty of extremely hot water. Check out at 11 also allowed for a more leisurely departure.

Comfortable, quiet and centrally located, a few moments' walk away from Mermaid Street, St Mary's Church, Lamb House and the Ypres Tower. Helpful staff and well equipped room, with tea and coffee-making facilities. Very good views.

Nothing really not to like, though Rye in general seemed expensive - quite hard to find reasonable places nearby to eat. The bathroom is quite small for two people, so an additional shelf or hooks for toiletries and towels would have been good. The lighting in the room could have been a bit brighter.

Very friendly hotel. Excellent location with parking free from 6pm to 9am virtually outside hotel. It’s a very old hotel so don’t expect immaculate paintwork etc but the bedroom was very spacious. Very comfortable bed and pillows and it’s lovely to have the choice of a bath and efficient shower. Everything was immaculately clean and fresh. Enough sockets to charge everything. Incredibly quiet considering you’re in the centre of town and no secondary glazing! Breakfast was very generous and delicious!

couldnt really fault anything. the room was a good size, bed very comfy and bedding spotlessly clean . bathroom was also spotless and a good size. we had a deluxe double with a lovely veiw to the hills and over the river. breakfast was superb , with everything you could need and plenty of it. the staff were very friendly and helpful. although the hotel is on a hill its not a long way up and is an easy stroll. rye is lovely and we will be back in the festive season. car parking isnt a huge problem either. market car park is best at 2.50 for 24hrs.
