Ian and Sarah were lovely and upbeat; interacting with them was a great way to start the day. They were very personable, and make a variety of great breakfasts which I enjoyed every day in their cozy cafe. I was initially booked into their single room which, though very good as a budget option, had a bed which was perhaps too big for the room - it was a trifle cramped with no desk to work at, nor closet space. Overall though, it was a good budget choice - the bed was comfortable, the room was clean, WiFi was good, and the modern shower was very nice. Upon my arrival Sarah voluntarily offered to bump me up to a much larger bedroom when it became available and it was most luxurious, roomy, extremely comfortable and very much appreciated! I highly recommend going the extra mile and booking that one!

It had a very good location. The room was comfortable though I am never sure where you are meant to put all the cushions. The breakfast was excellent except I never remembered to ask for my egg to be cooked the way I like. Ideal for seeing Rye and going to the beach. It was very hot when we visited and the room was fine for sleeping overnight. The room was very clean. The sandwich shop was very useful.
A clear concise explanation of where you can park and when would have been very useful and saved some time. I appreciate you don't want to put visitors off but a warning about how busy it can be late afternoon would have helped.

Breakfast was lovely but I did expect tea/coffee to be included in the price. Parking is a bit of a problem but Rye is a terrific little town. Owner was really pleasant and helpful, all the staff were great.
I don’t care much for Booking.com’s site though. The prices advertised are never the same as when you go to make the booking. It also seemed strange that every place I looked at, there was only one room left!!! That clearly wasn’t the case!

The staff and owners of the Old Borough were very welcoming and friendly. The location is perfect for exploring Rye and we managed to park in the car park opposite which was a bonus. The room was spacious, well appointed and the bed was very comfortable. We had a fabulous lunch at the hotel. The best crab sandwiches EVER and an ice cold bottle of Chenin Blanc - Perfect. It was a shame it was just to cold and windy to sit out on the terrace watching the world go by. We will definitely be back

Lovely people running the place, very comfortable room and great location. Fab breakfast, we sent our compliments to the kitchen.
It’s an old property so we understand that the place must be a never ending maintenance job but when we stayed it was pretty windy and the window rattled loudly all night. We tried to stuff the gaps to stop it but a little wooden wedge or two would prob fix the issue. Apologies to the lovely owner that we didn’t mention it directly to them at the time. Other than that it was a lovely stay and we’d very happily book again.

Room was very nicely decorated and had plenty of room and good bathroom facilities, staff were friendly and helpful on check in and check out and it was situated in a perfect location with in walking distance to public transport and local places to visit, heating was good in room also.
The rooms could do with double glazing as the condensation was bad in the morning and you can here everything going on outside the window cars, people talking etc…

Location was great, very central so easy to walk to everywhere I wanted to go. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room was really comfortable.
Very steep stairs on the outside of the building which gave me vertigo a couple of times, but there was also another set of stairs on the inside which were easier to handle. A lot of noise from people going the the cafe loo and going to their rooms, or standing right outside my room to have chats which was occasionally disturbing, or just annoying.

The room was very comfortable and had everything we needed. One of the members of staff, Ian, was also particularly helpful- sending me instructions for a late check-in. The location was perfect- a 5 minute walk from where we needed to be. The cafe linked to the guest house was also lovely.
We felt the price was quite high, considering that breakfast wasn't included. Also, noise travels quite well between the rooms. This wasn't really an issue for us, the other guests were not noisy and we were mostly out but we could hear the people above us moving around very clearly.

Wonderful staff. Sarah, the owner is delightful. My room was light, airy, with an extremely comfortable bed and lovely en suite. Had lunch and breakfast there and can highly recommend the food - enormous breakfast, great crab sandwiches, good choice of reasonably priced wine by the glass or bottle. Lovely views from the restaurant terrace. This is such a friendly place, with great music in the bar! All the staff are utterly lovely.
