Perfectly located on the beautiful, historic Mermaid Street, Jeakes House is a picturesque gem of a hotel with an intimate atmosphere. The public spaces, which includes a small bar and a truly lovely breakfast room, are maintained to the highest standards. All staff are friendly and welcoming and provide a very high standard of service at all times. It was also fascinating and interesting to talk with the delightful owner as she greeted guests ar breakfast. Our room was simply lovely with a four-poster bed and roll-top bath and a wonderful view over Mermaid Street.
There was nothing we did not like. We highly recommend Jeakes House for that special stay in Rye.

Jeakes House oozes charm in every pore. It is a magnificent old house full of stories and history. If you are looking for a spanking new, all mod-cons, sterile, boring and run of the mill modern accommodation, then this may not be for you. On the other hand, if you're looking for a wonderful experience, a memory to cherish and a lovely story to tell, then stay at Jeakes House. We're looking forwad to our next visit.
Everything was excellent. The parking was very good but a bit tricky to find in Rye's maze of tiny streets. But the locked gate gave as reassurance regarding the safety of our vehicle and we were happy with the arrangement. There's no lift at Jeakes House, so bear that in mind.

Jeakes House is beautiful and has a lot of character! We booked as a last minute weekend get away and were not disappointed. It is in a fantastic location, and the staff were so very welcoming and friendly from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. We stayed in the budget double room with the bathroom across the landing, it was very close and it was private, did not cause any issues with our stay. We really liked the honesty bar, lovely extra that added to the stay. Private parking for a small fee and a short walk from the hotel was fantastic due to limited parking in Rye!

The breakfast was superb and the staff warm, friendly and helpful. No fiddly mini packs of butter or marmelade, but butter in a little dish, homemade marmelade and good fresh coffee. As we had a dog with us, it was especially appreciated how very kind, patient and affectionate all the staff were with our dog. There is an honesty bar in the cosy lounge, where one simply helps oneself to a drink or nuts and then write down on the little pad what you have taken - so delightful! And board games are provided too! Our room was cosy and very comfortable, and the bed wonderful. The proprietor Richard was so kind and helpful. The location of Jeakes house simply could not be better, as it is right in the very centre of Rye.
The electric shower was the only downside. It was weak and the temperature hard to get right.

Great variety for breakfast, catered well for allergies and intolerances. Room was quiet, private, clean, made up every day, generous tea-making and refreshment facilities in the room. Staff were just lovely and very friendly in a natural not a forced way. Nothing was too much trouble. Not that we gave them any! The location was perfect in old Rye, very near restaurants and the shops.
Our experience was very good have nothing to say here.

Lovely quirky old hotel with the excellent addition of parking. Our room was cosy with everything you needed from tea selection, , coffee, and hot chocolate to dressing gowns and toiletries. Bathroom was immaculate with plenty of towels and face cloths. Well stocked honesty bar was a nice touch and given the horrible weather a Whisky was very welcome as we came back in the evening ! The breakfast menu was so extensive we struggled to choose but it was delicious and very generous. The staff were really lovely, very efficient and nothing was too much trouble.
Tiny issue with room being very warm. We turned off radiator overnight as windows did not open. Also, and this is purely a matter of personal preference, we found the bed to be a little firm... Otherwise everything was excellent.

The breakfast was spectacular! We wish we could have stayed longer to try them all - so many choices and every single one was delicious and presented beautifully. A spectacular setting complemented by an outstanding staff. We would also like to thank the gentleman who put out milk and juice at our table Monday morning, so that we were able to have breakfast at 6am before catching our train
It would have been nice to have a key to the separate bathroom, to lock it when not in use and avoid other guests from using it. Also wanted to note that the shower & sink tap are leaking.

Breakfast is included and is an a dedicated room, beautifully laid out with cereals, etc and an excellent service for the menu of cooked meals. The hotel is quirky, and the rooms have charm. Everywhere is spotless. A nice tray of teas, coffees, biscuits etc in the room. Mermaid Street is a step-back in time. The hotel has its own secure car park nearby (£3 per day)
As warned, the steps are iregular and steep - a bit difficult to manoeuvre with a bag.

The whole place is peaceful, clean, cosy and comfortable! The bed was comfy and the downstairs bar was a cosy place to hang out in the evening, with a self service bar, board games, newspapers and armchairs for reading. It was also very well located in the heart of the town!
The breakfast was delicious but they couldn't easily accommodate my dairy intolerance - the oat milk they provided wasn't chilled, and they ran out of non dairy butter. This would have also been an issue for vegans. They could think a bit more about accommodating dietary requirements.

Would highly recommend staying here. The property is a lovely historic building and beautifully furnished. Room was cosy with a comfortable bed and very nice, clean ensuite bath and shower. Great choice of well cooked tasty breakfast. All staff were polite and helpful. Owners were welcoming and provided a list of good restaurants all within walking distance but definitely book in advance as they get busy. There is also a well stocked honesty bar where you can enjoy a night cap and the company of a very vocal but friendly cat. Rye itself has lots of character to enjoy. It did rain a bit during our short break but there are a number of interesting antique shops, art galleries and Ypres Tower to visit close by. We also drove the short distance to Camber sands and took a walk to Rye nature reserve which are both worth a visit.
