The breakfast was first class. The reception staff were friendly and the most efficient I have come across ,they were exceptional. The rooms were spot less and warm, as was the rest of the hotel. The shower was brilliant with as much hot water as you could ever want. Lovely log fire in the lounge, which we tested quite a bit. As for the location. Perfect!. To use the old adage you do get what you pay for.
This is not really a dislike but more of a suggestion . We are not great foodies and it would of been nice if the restaurant offered even a small choice of, can I say more normal food . I know there other hotel caters for this and the food there was great (Sunday roast perfect) but you don't always wont to walk to the other side of the harbour to eat.

everything about this hotel was quality, great room, great view, staff were friendly and helpful and could not do enough for us. beautiful hotel in a beautiful location
quality food but not enough choice of food, menu outside advertised a better selection of food but the menu given only had three choices of starter and main, as i did not like two of the three i had little choice, the next night was the same menu so no choice but to repeat the order, however, the staff were helpful and gave me a starter from lunch. better menu needed

The breakfast was very good and the location was lovely being on the water's edge. The staff worked well as a team, were smartly dressed and very obliging and helpful.
A more varied menu with more changes especially if as we were staying four nights. A summer weight duvet might have given us better nights sleep as the room was rather warm.

Beautiful location lovely room and comfortable lounge and Restuarant.
The Restuarant was very expensive at £190 plus gratuity without drinks. The food was adequate but not particularly memorable.

Beautiful hotel in an idyllic location on the sea front in a picturesque little town. Staff went above & beyond (especially as I had made an error with booking dates) Room was exceptional and the vibe throughout the hotel was lovely. We had dinner, breakfast and room service and the food and drinks were all top class! The outdoor seating area at the front is a delightful area to sit, eat and drink or just enjoy the view overlooking the harbour. Would love to think we will visit again and would certainly highly recommend.

This boutique hotel is all about service. We were made to feel very welcome, our names were on our bedroom doors, and the rooms were lovely and comfortable with beautiful views of the bay. We enjoyed a cocktail on the deck, coffee in the lounge, and a very nice breakfast in their beautiful dining room. It is incredibly peaceful and the public spaces are bright and beautiful. We also enjoyed the quick walk up to the old St. Mawe's fortress.
St. Mawe's is very quiet off season! What is there (a few restaurants, coffee shops, sundry shops) are darling and high quality but it is a sleepy place in April! We expected a bit more of a town, but for one night it was a lovely spot to stop.

Perfectly situated in St Mawes with views over the harbour and town we had a lovely two nights at the Idle Rocks. Wonderful, friendly and attentive staff we very much felt relaxed and immersed during our short stay. Dinner one night in the excellent restaurant and the other in the equally impressive St Mawes Hotel. Breakfasts were good and plentiful.
Like most parts of Cornwall expect to pay a premium for everything.

Location is perfect as was our room. Reception staff were very helpful and professional.
We found the waiting staff disorganised, they forgot food and drink orders and had to be reminded. Waiting staff repeatedly asked guests for their orders, which had already been taken by a previous member of staff. We observed this numerous times. Sorry to say service was not up to standard considering the 12.5% service charge.

This is a perfect hotel, delicious food, helpful staff and wonderfully understated, perfectly decorated, delicious food, great location. If you like a relaxed vibe without being stuffy and overly formal (it’s still very good service) the give this a go.
Very difficult to find anything not to like here

Amazing location. Room was spacious and beautifully decorated. Attention to small details was excellent. We loved our 3 night stay.
Our TV wouldn't work properly. There was a notice on screen to hit back button which wouldn't work so we couldn't watch any programme. A technician did look at it but when we went to use it again the problem was still there. Also there were small fragments of glass on the floor we raised this at reception and asked for a thorough vacuume but still found pieces the day after.
