Booked double with small "private patio" as we had the dog with us expecting to be able to let him out in a secure area if necessary Very large bed Very tastefully decorated / furnished - like taking a step back in time Duty manager on arrival was brilliant - local area was swamped with TV crew filming, nightmare to find car park but Aurios (?) was superb in giving us directions for the car once we'd walked to the hotel in frustration No usual nightly charge for our dog

The patio was actually a walled hole in the ground - totally walled in, no view / sight of anything - literally 3m x 2m area with small table and chairs so not much room at all really Bed was huge but not too comfortable No physical bar - just a selection of beers/wines and an honesty book €20 per day parking charge - so that balanced off no charge for the dog

We spent the long weekend 18-21. May at the Hotel de Swaene. The hotel is excellently located in the center and is very cosy. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. In our case, the receptionist organized us a table for lunch at the top restaurant Zet Joe at short notice. We booked breakfast on site and were very satisfied with both the offer and the service. There was no minibar in the room, but there was a well-stocked fridge in an elegant lounge with a grand piano. Unfortunately, the internet connection in our room (32) only worked very sporadically, which is why we visited the lounge more often, where the WiFi was excellent. Another positive aspect is the availability of a guest car park in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. We were very satisfied with our stay and can warmly recommend the hotel de Swaene.

There was nothing we did not like.

The location was very good. The employees were very friendly, kind and helpful. The breakfast was sufficient, fresh and good quality. All day free self-service tea/coffee was a nice gesture to their customers.

The room we got was far more ugly and warn/used than what is seen in the photos. It had nothing to do with the photos in booking.com. Instead of an antique look, it was feeling old, with dusty plastic flowers and several ugly details. It was a total disappointment. Make sure to take mosquito killer especially if you go in a warm day. Day and night, full of flies and mosquitos due to the canal. In the breakfast, I would like to have more than 1 type of cheese and if possible some tomatoes and cucumber. There were 4 types of meat but only 1 type of cheese.

This hotel really is very special, we loved it and will visit again. It's fully of history and the salon is simply stunning. The staff were so helpful. We had a suite on the 3rd floor looking down onto the canal. The rooms was spacious and beautifully furnished. Thankfully there was a lift as the stairs are very steep, much as you'd expect in a building that's 300 years old. Breakfast was continental, but very good and the paid parking was literally just over the bridge.

Honestly can't think of anything at all. Whole stay was perfect from start to finish.

The property is filled with old-world charm but the experience was modern in every way. Completely comfortable and equipped with every amenity — they even have an indoor swimming pool! Excellent, quiet location. And the staff? I can’t say enough positive things about them. They went above and beyond to accommodate a situation in which I couldn’t get a taxi to the train station because the roads were closed down for a sporting event. I can’t remember getting this kind of personal touch from any other hotel.

1) the location right on the canal and a 5 min walk to the main tourist area's. 2) the character of the building and decor. 3) the staff.

1) We booked a room with a bath but upon check in, the room we were given didn't have a bath. I mentioned it to staff on reception and they said not all the superior rooms have baths. The room discription/facilities could be a bit missleading. Nevertheless, the lady made arrangments for us to swap rooms for our second night once one became available, and the second room was really nice. 2) the first room we stayed in had an unsavory smell in the bathroom, like the smell from the wastepipes was coming back up into the bathroom. I didn't complain about it as we were changing rooms the following day, but the hotel must have already been aware of it.

Beautiful period property in a perfect location on the canals. What I loved most about it was that they are super pet friendly. We traveled with a small pup and not only did they not charge extra but they also provided the cutest dog bed. Staff are very friendly.

The only thing that prevents me from giving this hotel top marks was that unfortunately there was a pungent smell coming from the bathroom plumbing. This can happen in old properties on the water, but it was really off-putting and there wasn’t anything they could do.

Location Is superb, All staff are super friendly and hotel is very unique. Joris met us upon arrival and spent the next 10 minutes telling us where best to eat and what to do. His information was greatly appreciated and made our stay for our 25th Wedding Anniversary extra special. We did a boat ride tour and Hotel die swaene was pointed out as the most romantic hotel in Bruges.

Fantastic location, right in the middle of the city - a very short walk to all the main sights meaning if you get up early you can see the Bruges hits basically crowd free. Room spacious and too a high standard. Stunning communal bar upstairs with lovely view over the canal. The staff were very helpful with suggestions and even let us know when we left something behind upon check out - they 100% went above and beyond. Swimming pool facilities was a great little bonus.

Location is a bit of a walk from the train and main bus station and there is no way of avoiding the crowded canal sides - if you have a lot of luggage, consider a taxi.

This is our second visit to the 'Die Swaene Hotel' and once again it exceeded our expectations. The building itself is stunning and situated right next to one of the many beautiful canals in the city(one of the most beautiful ones in our opinion). The reception staff are ultra friendly and welcoming, they were literally enthusiastically available for us throughout our stay. The city centre is what can only be described as an enchanting walk from the hotel, which makes going in and out a total pleasure. The hotel is super clean with a regal decor throughout. The pool/spa facilities are literally the cherry on the cake. All in all this hotel merges with the city perfectly, it allows a tourist to have the best experience possible in Bruges, truly dreamy, we will definitely be back!
