Th location was ideal -close walk to the train station 5-10 minutes max. Charming and newly renovated. Everything was so clean and appealing. The staff were exceptional- always eager to help, answer any questions. Their two recommendations for dinner were perfect- Chuchi for typical Swiss meal with excellent mushroom cheese fondue . I also enjoyed the delicious lightly seasoned salmon. St Lucia was a lovely Italian restaurant with many choices, linen table cloths, fire oven. Indoor and outdoor choices for tables. Due to imminent rain we chose indoor seating. Both restaurants were reasonably priced. We conclude our two week trip back at Hotel St. Joseph- we are very happy to go back there again!!

Shower water could be a little warmer but no big problem

Close to Zurich HB and old town. Breakfast, the usual spread in Switzerland hotels, is fresh. Kettle in the room.

Had to lug trolley bag up a flight of stairs to reach the hotel from Zurich HB. Later learnt there’s a slope further down the road for those arriving with luggage. Helpful to include in the direction.

WOW! This very welcoming and comfortable hotel must be the best value-for-money accommodation in central Zürich! The staff are wonderfully hospitable and kind. Even before we arrived they went out of their way to make us feel welcome, even though - as we discovered - there was a huge event taking place in the city, which must surely have added to their workload. Staff member Susanna even advised our friends, who drove down from Germany, where they could find free car parking on Sunday, and welcomed them to join us at the hotel for breakfast. (A varied and plentiful breakfast is already included for hotel residents, and we found it reasonably priced for our friends to join us!) I really appreciated the varied and good quality gluten-free breakfast options on offer too! The hotel is ideally situated for those arriving and leaving by public transport. It's only a 5 minute walk from Zürich Hauptbahnhof, and hotel staff are happy to organize a shuttle to take guests to the airport. Despite being so central, the hotel location is quiet and restful, within easy walking distance from transport stations, the river Limmat, good restaurants, and other central city attractions. We highly recommend this friendly and comfortable hotel and would gladly return here anytime. With many thanks!

A very nice hotel, spotlessly clean and modern room. Care taken of every detail. The staff were very nice and friendly, accommodating all our requests. Quite close to the train station, less than 10 min walking distance. Very close to the old town and Zurich lake, so there was no need to use public transport. Many cafes, restaurants, pubs and bars in the area. The breakfast was very good, too. Unfortunately, the restaurant at the hotel was closed for summer holidays during our stay, but we hope to have it open during our next visit. We only regret staying in the hotel for just one night. Next time we'll stay longer and spend more time in Zurich.

Exceptionally convenient location to explore the old town. The hotel made me feel like at home and relaxed between my strolling and visiting Christmas markets. Heard about its hillside ovation, but the steps and walkways are very pedestrian friendly. and I am an 84 year old with some arthritic knee problems, did not require taxi except when I moved from another hotel to St Josef, then from the hotel to the airport to return home. I could have used public transportation, but to save time and energy with heavy suitcases.

Everything was almost perfect, but my stay would have been better, if I had better instructions how to adjust the heating( was in December and overheated). The breakfast buffet would have been better with more food allergy adaptations. Did not have time to try evening meals.

I loved the breakfast selection especially the homemade Birchermuesli and the chocolate loaf. The location was excellent and we felt totally safe. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. A special thank you to the young gentleman who checked us in and upgraded our room. Also to the breakfast lady who went above and beyond to get me a croissant as the order didn’t come in for the hotel. She also let me come in early to enjoy a cappuccino.

The cost of the hotel is expensive for a Canadian traveller. However I really enjoyed staying at this upscale hotel to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary!

Clean, warm, great location to walk to old town. Though don’t be fooled by the information that it’s only a 7 minute walk from station, as this includes a number of steps - tricky with luggage! Staff were very helpful. We appreciated them opening dining room early for us to have breakfast prior to early train departure. Would recommend.

We had room at far end of a corridor & no light in corridor, making it dark & tricky to navigate at night . Sensor light activated at the lift end, but needs one near the room (427). It may just have been broken - forgot to mention it. Otherwise everything was great

The staff are very helpful and very welcoming. You can’t say much about the price because it is Zurich costs but I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for somewhere to stay when they go. The food for dinner was delicious and both the hotel staff and kitchen staff helped me out one evening where I came back from an excursion late which lasted the whole day, they allowed me to eat before the chef’s began to close the kitchen which was really nice of them. Breakfast food is a selection of fruits, cereal, cheeses, breads, etc. Location was good, mostly everywhere you need to go is accessible by foot anyway but there is the trams you can use etc.

Maybe more of a selection of food at breakfast but this wasn’t the end of the world!

Location was great, a short 10 min walk to the main train station and walkable distance to the main sights of Zurich. Staff was exceptional, extremely helpful and friendly. The room I stayed was a fairly large and beautiful room on the top floor. It was unique, well equipped with separate seating and a mini-fridge, clean and modern; super comfortable. I'd say breakfast was good enough. I only stayed for one night but I'd wish I had stayed for a few more days!

Not much really but if I were to nit-pick I'd say that even though the location was great, there was a long slope getting up to the hotel (no need go up the stairs). The room I stayed was also in an adjacent building but not a major concern, just had to walk outside to go back to the main building for breakfast. The shower was near the door and it wasn't enclosed, just a shower curtain.

Very nice breakfast, terrific staff who were very friendly and helpful. The location was very central to all the places we wanted to go to. The room isn’t big, but it is an urban hotel at a reasonable rate, for Zürich. We later stayed at a more expensive Marriott hotel and I would chose St. Josef over the Marriott in a heartbeat!

The frosted glass sliding door into the bathroom might be problematic for some people, if your partner uses the bathroom in the middle if the night, and you’re light sensitive. You can not see thru the door.
