I have stayed many times before - helpful staff, reasonable price, a bit of character, good location for the Town Centre and reasonable parking. I'll probably be back again.

Even though Feb is down season, and the hotel need guests, the Hotel management needs to make sure they aren't accepting bookings from undesirable guests. They know what I mean by this.

Excellent value for money when compared to the price of other places I checked out.

I only stayed from 6 pm until 10 am and parked my car in the hotel car park for which I had to pay 2 days' parking, adding £8 to the cost. Not a huge amount so I didn't make a fuss about it but feel that this should have been made clear and that the parking should be done for the period of parking, ie. I was there less than 24 hours so should not have been charged 2 days, even thought technically it was Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

Greeted by a happy smiling receptionist who spent several minutes helping with the parking machine, explained what was available to us and showed us the way to the lift. The room was spotlessly clean and spacious, beds comfortable and bathroom quite superb. The room theme was quite subtle and could be readily ignored , which we did. TV was easy to use and functioned perfectly. Plenty of towels available too. Breakfast was a comprehensive buffet and very good.

The only thing that I could fault it on was the heating. Whilst the radiator was off, the big bore pipes carried sufficient heat to make the bedroom uncomfortably warm. Quite a feat in April. It must be costing a fortune to heat this place but perhaps the boiler controls are a bit old-fashioned. Seemed wrong to throw the windows open and waste all that energy but it was the only way to endure the heat.

LOVED our family room! Really clean, spacious and with everything we needed. Really appreciated the huge bath! Great, friendly staff. Brilliant location!

Getting locked in the garden was quite funny for us but if you didn't have a mobile phone with you it might not be quite so funny..

I didn't like the housekeeping walking into our room and 11.05 when we paid extra for late check out, we were asleep and got woken up!

Good party hotel with friendly helpful staff

Arrival was perfect, quick, organised and informative. Room, it wasn't one of the rooms that has had a complete make over but there was absolutely nothing wrong with it, the bathroom had been done and was very smart, the sink is massive and the tap small and preety much not much use in its location but you soon get used to it over all the bathroom was great. There was a drainage small but we quickly found leaving the window open and door closed this didn't effect the room at all, couldn't say the same if it was winter. First night sleep was quite as a mouse. Day 1, 9am House keeping knocked to say they aren't cleaning the room today do we need any towels or coffee, Nice touch, we where asleep and they where very sorry they woke us (we couldn't find the do not disturb sign but did eventually) 9.20am, housekeeping knocked again to say did we want the room cleaned. Funny moment but it gave us a chance to ask for more coffee  Breakfast, A toster that works first time !!!!! Would like to have seen more choice of fruit see photo. Hot breakfast was plentiful and nice Nice coffee, no really actually good coffee from the machine. Comfortable vibe in the breakfast room morning TV playing in the back ground. There's reviews saying the carpets are thread bare but while we where there they where replacing them in stages. There's a bar open 24/7 with pool table, a TV room with all the channels. Overall this is a good hotel and I recommend staying here.

Parking spaces not being granted even if you pay Parking, free if you book direct, £8 a day if you don't. Parking is first come first serve so if you pay your not given a space and you won't get a refund.

Breakfast 6/10 not hot enough

I had seen previously seen this hotel featured on the TV series The Hotel Inspector many years ago, so I had a vague idea of what to expect based on memory. The red iconic phone box was the giveaway, as was the rather unusual hotel name. Strangely enough, what caught my eye were the two full sized metal Predator sculptures forged from old BMW and Volvo parts that are situated outside to the left of the main entrance. Great for photos and selfies. Staff were lovely and welcoming. The interior decor I really liked as it's something I definitely look for. Anything aesthetically pleasing on the eye gives my camera phone a good workout, as photography is one of my passions, so was kept busy. We had the Elvis Suite which is the room I requested, although they did state at the time of booking that they could not guarantee it. So I was overjoyed when I heard my wife say the Elvis Suite. The room was lovely and large, from the bed, headboard and wardrobe to cleanliness. Breakfast was what we hoped it would be. Help yourself Full English, toast, fruit juices, tea, coffee and cereal etc. It sets you up for the day ahead and it was all hot and cooked to perfection.

No food available other than breakfast. Luckily we had booked dinner at a restaurant prior for the evening, but in the advent of no restaurant in the hotel I thought that perhaps even sandwiches, toasties or chips would have been available as one would be more inclined to spend more money at the bar drinking and eating as its all part and parcel of the relaxing element of a holiday. It's what we've done elsewhere.
