The pub/restaurant was very modern and has recently been refurbished so a gigh standard. We had lunch when we arrived and were very impressed with the food. We had the sharing platter. The room was clean and cosy. Even though our room was directly above the restaurant, it was very quiet, which was a bonus. The location was great. We ate in the Inn's restaurant, Thai opposite, The Italian opp the train station and the thatched cottage tea rooms (all within a 4 min walk from the Inn). There is train station, 3-5 min walk, which has a direct link to London and Lymington. We never used it, but this is so handy. Very central location, a great base for exploring the New Forest. It's located on the main road, next to the SenSpa (which I visited) has parking and is just off the High Street (again only a 4 min walk away). Staff were lovely, very helpful, and welcoming. The managers (I can't remember their name's) reslly made an effort to talk to you. We didn't bring ours this time, but the hotel/bar/restaurant is dog friendly and offers dog friendly rooms. They are also opening up a new area of the bar, which has an existing bowling alley. This is going to be a family area, which I was so impressed with. The kids stayed home this trip, but this would be a great bonus to any hotel/pub if you're staying with the kids.

Not that it really bothered us and no way a complaint, but the room was very small.. Was a squeeze 2 people getting ready at the same time. But that wouldn't put us off staying there again or recommending it to others, we would just request a bigger room next time.

Excellent location with lovely forest walks directly from the door. The room was clean, warm and well maintained. The breakfast was excellent combination cooked and cold meals. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They also looked very well after my dietary requirement.

The free WiFi wasn't good. First, you have to log in with your private details and after that you can't download any info even if wifi sign is on. We ended using our mobile data. The room we stayed in was rather small and very dark. It was not clear how small and dark from the photos. Would be suitable 1-2 night stay, but uncomfortable for longer trip.

The accommodation was clean and everything needed for a comfortable stay was provided.

However, the room I stayed in, Goose, the walls were paper thin and I could hear very clearly the other occupants next door. The sandwich I purchased, which cost £10.50 was not presented very well at all, the description on the menu sounded lovely, but it was a doorstep of a sandwich I couldn't bite into it, the shredded beef was incredibly stringy, the cheese was actually lumps which looked as though it had been broken off a block, there was no mustard, no dressing of perhaps a few salad leaves and no crisps. In other words it looked as though it had been thrown together and in a hurry. In contrast, the cooked breakfast the following morning was lovely.

The Huntsman was in a central location for our weekend. The room was comfy and clean. They have a selection of snacks on an honesty tray with complementary tea, coffee, hot chocolate and water. The rain head shower was amazing! The breakfast was superb with a selection of continental or cooked breakfast. The staff we met were very helpful.

We couldn’t get the tv to work but it didn’t spoil our time away. We decided that we didn’t need it so didn’t bother letting the staff know about it until we left. They said we should have let them know and they would have sorted it out for us but we were happy without it.

Great location in Brockenhurst, great price for the room, Modern and stylish.

They need to know the night before if you want breakfast otherwise you have to go elsewhere , also the water bottles were not replenished daily which was a shame and the bath mat was not changed , it was very grubby, I did leave it in the bath but it was ignored. Also the shower screen had no seal so every time you had a shower the floor was soaking wet, i had to use the bath mat to mop it up hence the grubbiness. Flush awful on loo. Knobs had fallen of wardrobe and drawers (these were in the bottom drawer)

Excellent location and a beautiful building and courtyard. Plenty of parking too. We stayed in the Goose room - very spacious with an extra large bed. Fantastic sleeps! Room had wverything we needed and was still quiet given our windows at the rear opened onto the beer garden. I have listed a few of the minor issues we koticed in the 'what didn't you like' box below would note that this should read 'what could be better' as we still had a lovely time and these are simply 'attention to detail' comments.

Whilst the room was great ot is starting to look a little tired and could do with a bit if money spending on it. For example - blind in the bathroom didn't have a chain so we had to wind it down and up manually using the actual blind roller. The two shelves in the bathroom were both loose with the screws falling out. And the sealant around the floor was coming away.

We stayed in the mallard room which was lovely and had loads of space. The bathroom was great and it had a huge bath, and shower. I had a bath the first night and it felt really luxurious. The bed was enormous but the mattress a bit firm for our personal preference. It has a little seating area with TV and was great for our long weekend. We were there for a wedding up the road and it was a great location and loads of space to get ready beforehand, there's also plenty to do nearby. The bar downstairs is lovely food was nice a bit on the pricey side. The room was spotlessly clean.

Service in the bar was slightly hit and miss although the manager was brilliant and resolved issues quickly when our order got forgotten about. Room could do with a welcome pack with wifi password and local taxi numbers etc. Bed for us wasn't comfy but if you like a firmer mattress you will love it. Our room wasn't cleaned while we were there and we did have to ask for replacement teas/coffees etc but these were sorted as soon as we told the staff downstairs. For the price I did expect housekeeping to be in each day. In the bar downstairs we did notice staff were very slow to clean tables and walked past many times without clearing our empty plates but not a major issue.

Great location for the forest & all that has to offer. Beer garden of the pub / hotel was beautiful, very pleasant to sit chill and enjoy the very well kept gardens. Room was fine other than the ceiling height.

While the room was nice and large, it was not advised as being limited in height. I am tall, so could not stand up to my full height anywhere other than the bathroom. But even if was small but over 6 foot it would feel a little low. No way I could use the shower either as that was small & low

The property was perfect for a family. I personally want to point out the lengths that Abi, went to to make our stay as relaxing as possible with a newborn baby. She helped bring dinner to our room the first night as our dinner night went down the pan! Then breakfast was just yummy - THE SAUSAGES were just delicious!

Absolutley nothing - try the cakes at the bar!!

We loved our stay here for the great location, friendly and welcoming staff who couldn’t do enough for you, room furnishings and decor but also for the amazing food…, great choice and executed to a very higher standard, both dinner and lunch and couldn’t recommend highly enough. The property has a great outside space too (lots of cover area also should it be raining)

Toilet system makes an electrical noise every few minutes and all night even when not in use, think this is due to the macerator. Main shower head was broken in Grouse so whilst it still showers lots of water runs over the top of the shower head and not through it as intended. Attention to cleanliness needs a little finessing to take this room and experience to the next level, things like cleaning the outer bath panel front as had water stains and cleaning/replacing the shower screen plastic seal as this was very dirty and more brown than the original clear plastic colour. Also the toiletries provided are lovely and if great quality but let down by leaking/non functional bottles.
