Everything was fabulous! Our accommodation was located at Royal William Yard, away from the centre of Plymouth. We stayed in one of the ground floor rooms in a stunningly, beautiful, historic building. Walking around the yard, which has been modernised in an amazing way, was such a treat. As I understand, it used to belong to the Admiralty, where staff and Naval Officers worked with all necessary storage for ships and crew. It really is a must to visit if you are ever staying in the Plymouth area! The fridge was a bonus and the ensuite was beautiful. The bedding was gorgeous and the back garden was huge! Breakfast is served in a restaurant across the grounds from the accommodation in a beautifully decorated restaurant.

My only concern is that the shower tray filled with water very quickly. I am not sure if the staff are aware?

Really interesting location amongst buildings once used by the Navy. Room was a good size and very comfortable. We also used the restaurant for dinner which was fine. Breakfast was excellent. Everything served by staff who cared.

The bathroom in room 2 was within the room area but separated from the sleeping area which was good. However there was no heating in the bathroom area as it had a stone floor and you were effectively drying yourself in what was a small corridor. The room was in the basement (although the windows did allow good light into the room). Outside the room were around 20/25 large linen bags waiting for collection and a single bed propped up against the wall. This just didn’t feel right for a boutique hotel. It was as if we were in amongst a staff area.

Bistrot Pierre's website & brochure (and its booking.com page) does an excellent job of capturing the appeal of the spacious rooms in the lovingly restored Georgian building. However, despite impressive pictures and helpful descriptions, you have to visit to grasp just how wonderful and peaceful and beautiful the Bistrot's setting is, in and around Royal William Yard (RWY), or what a self-contained haven of restaurants and bars RWY is if you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of the city centre in the evening. We happily spent every evening of the six we were there wandering around, eating & drinking in a different establishment in RWY every night, and were never disappointed. That said, the two standout places were Vietnamese restaurant Pho, plus the fabulous Hook & Line which serves fish fresh off its own boats, and comes complete with the most entertaining and interesting and welcoming host you could wish to meet (Steve Page). Bistrot Pierre's staff were marvellous, especially Karen and Luzio, and our special breakfast requests were always fulfilled without a murmur. There are beautiful views that can be seen from Devil’s Point (a short climb up steps in RWY) out towards Mount Edgecumbe and Drake Island, and a short enjoyable ferry trip takes you to from RWY to the Barbican, the heart of the interesting old town, and a short walk from the famous Plymouth Hoe.

Although the rooms were lovely, and blessed with super-comfortable beds, the three rooms we stayed in (5, then 3, then 10) would all have benefitted from more attention from Bistrot Pierre's handyman to sort out a few niggles such as a rickety door lock, a fractured light switch, and a faulty hairdryer

Absolutely lovely place, such a great find. Rooms were beautiful, bed very comfortable and food excellent. Good tea and coffee making facilities, really lovely fixtures and fittings. The Royal William Yard is a great place with pretty much all you could need; bars, restaurants, even a cinema. And, being only a 10 minute walk to the city centre, the location was fab.

The only thing, and it really is clutching at straws, is that the windows were really dirty. However, we embarked on the rooms during storm Darragh and pretty sure there was nothing they could have done anything about.

The property was beautiful - good facilities and very comfy bed

The room was on the ground floor and there is a garden outside. Was woken up at 7 to dog walkers shouting at their dogs. Also when booking nothing was said about having only half an hour to book in ( we got there at 2.30 and couldn’t book in til 3 so went for a drink thinking we had free parking because we were staying the night. I got a parking ticket £35 and because my partner met me there we had to pay £15 extra as had two cars. Parking attendant and staff at Pierre’s didn’t really care so we paid £50 extra on top of price of room for night. So beware

The building & the surrounding area was excellent ,really historic . The room was lovely ,quirky with the original features like window shutters ,fireplace etc. ,the decor was lovely & it was very clean . Although a little small ,it did just the job for an overnight stay .

W.C was a little cramp ,although as we are not big people it was ok ,as with the shower . Car park area opposite could do with a pile of chippings spread over to reduce the amount of mud being splashed up onto the car or being carried through into the clean buildings on the soles of our shoes ,but this is being a bit picky .

The Bistro breakfast staff were a disappointment with very slow service, in spite of there being few customers, asking what the order was again & items on the menu not available .

This is not something that would necessarily bother young fit people but I am 77 & would like a lift when I was on the 3rd floor & has unfortunately sustained a hip injury whilst I stayed there. I think that no lift should be mentioned at the time of booking so that a room on the ground floor could be requested. I thought the key & parking arrangements & check out worked very well. I did not see any staff at all in the Rooms hence the review relates to just the Bistro.

Spacious room with very comfortable bed. Plenty of shelf space in bathroom to store toiletries and very efficient shower. High quality towels and bed linen.

Lighting in bathroom not good for applying make up and a magnifying mirror would have been helpful. Lack of container in shower to place one's own soap. The breakfast menu is inflexible. Far better to allow a choice of full English (with a choice of, bacon, sausage, eggs and tomato) or continental plus cereal or porridge.

The room was lovely, fortunately the stairs were ok for us and we only had one bag each but there were quite a few stairs to the top floor and no other option. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was great. Really nice selection of teas/hot chocolate too. The breakfast was really delicious as well.

Checking in at the restaurant wasn't ideal, we were made to feel like we were in the way with other people trying to come into the restaurant to dine. Fortunately we were able to leave our luggage in the car but for the couple who arrived by taxi this was a bit tricky.

The room was exceptional, loved that the room had been decorated to a high standard with all thye original features, such as the solid internal sutters that folded back into the sides of the sash windows. The shower was excellend and the King size bed was very comfortable as I managed to sleep for a full 9 hours. (Okay, the wine may have helped a little). The staff at the restaurant were very friendly and helpful. Will stay again for sure.

The breakfast could have been a little bit warmer, but it was okay.
