Excellent location. The character of the hotel. Room was spacious. Very comfortable king-size bed. Good breakfast with romantic atmosphere. Very attentive staff. We celebrated a birthday and some kind words were waiting for us in the room. Appreciated.

Despite its modern and spacious design, the bathroom lacked certain amenities such as a hand-towel holder and soap holder. While the Italian shower was nice, the absence of a door made it difficult to prevent water from spilling onto the bathroom floor. A full-length mirror was missing in the room (expected in a 4 stars hotel). At night, when cars pass by, the paved street that runs between the canal rooms and the canal become a source of noise. Traffic is very limited, but this is still to be considered when booking a room with canal view.

Location is perfect , walking distance to most attractions. We stayed in the Suite which was enormous and had canal view which was very nice. Breakfast was excellent , had both hot (scrambled eggs and bacon) and cold (nice selection of croissants, cold cuts, fruits, etc.). Staff was very helpful. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again!

Not really a big deal but parking is a distance away and will cost you extra per day.

Very good location. next to a canal, 6 minute from the center. Hotel in medieval style with old and beautiful pieces of furniture. The breakfast room is perfectly arranged, beautiful paintings, discreet music The STAFF îs very kind and always smiling The beds very confortabile., bed sbeets clean and good quality

Our room was spacious but very dark., în an attic. The windows very small and the view of the canal only through a narrow window în a corner.. An old and beautiful wardrobe but poorly .maintained, with doorsgbat creamed. The small desk had no lamp.. The room was poorly lit only by the lamps on the bedskfe tables and a few spotlights on the ceiling. The bathroom was spacious, clean but the towels were old, thin and very tired

5 17th century houses joined together to make a character hotel by the canal, with winding corridors and wobbly staircases throughout. Some reviewers have called for a ‘refurb’ or ‘update’ but I hope this doesn’t happen as the property is lovely as it is. Nice staff who speak an array of languages! Our room (charming double) was very spacious and light, with a great view of the canal, big comfy bed, good bathroom, fridge and safe. Loved the old armchairs. Faded pictures on the walls and lighting (too dark) over the bath/shower are the only things I’d change. Apart from the problem with noise (see below) we were happy with our stay. Had breakfast on our last morning which was fabulous - loads of choice and great quality. Plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars close by but just a short walk further to find many many more. We particularly liked the ‘T Poatersgat bar round the corner and De Gastro restaurant near the beer wall. Train station 20 min walk (all cobbles so fun with a wheelie badge!) or or bus from right outside. Taxi €10.

This isn’t really a criticism of the hotel just a note for the traveller. There is a road between the hotel and the canal which like most Bruges roads is heavily cobbled and used by all sorts of vehicles. This makes canal-view rooms very noisy. I bought ear plugs for our second night and stuck the air-con on high to drown out the sound, but couldn’t do anything about the bed vibrating when a big vehicle went by! If you are used to traffic noise in your bedroom it may not bother you and after midnight/before 7am traffic is sparse. Should I return to Martins Relais I would book a room overlooking the pretty garden instead.

Old building conveniently located to the original part of Bruge away from the business of the central market.

Steps! I know, I know… I’m in Europe! There’s a lift but there are even stairs on each floor. The staircases are reflective of their age and are not for the frail or feeble. And given the age of the building, it is to be expected that the floors are uneven, but our room felt like we were on a ship. We had a room overlooking the canal which was lovely, but the road traffic on the cobblestones prevented us from keeping our windows open.

Great location, great view at the inner garden, very comfortable bed and pillows. There is everything for tea/coffee in the room, there also is a small fridge. A/C working good, keeping the room cool and fresh. If you live on the first/second floor, you can use the lift to get there (it’s great when you have big luggage with you). We took the breakfast at the hotel and it was great and with lots of options to choose. The staff at the hotel friendly and helpful.

A bit of dust on the hair dryer cord, also one the wooden beams (floor to roof). It would be better if those were wiped from time to time.

The place was located in a quiet but historical place of the city. You were able to enjoy the calmness of the area, and the centre was just a 6min walk. The city is small, but very beautiful. And extremely clean! You were able to basically visit all the historical landmarks on foot, given you stays a couple of days (btw, the canal tour is a must). The hotel was beautifully furnished and reflected the spirit of the place. The room was tidy, organized, full of natural light, and there were very nice details related to hygiene. I absolutely recommend!

We should have stayed longer. You wouldn't regret a minute spent here.

The location of this hotel was first class. It was a short walk to the main square in the middle of Brugge. It is a beautiful, traditional building with many original features. We drove from the UK and the hotel was easily located and local parking was provided a short walk away. Facilities within the property were excellent and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The Breakfast Room overlooked the canal at the front of the building. The breakfast itself was plentiful in both hot and cold choices.

Nothing not to like !

The rooms were big and very clean. The bed was huge A large comfortable room, just missing little bit of storage. Bathroom was very modern, large and clean. Breakfast was a very large selection of meats and cheeses, cereals, bread, fruit, lovely bacon and scrambled egg. Lots of old furniture with plenty of history everywhere you looked. A beautiful wooden staircase and art on every wall. The hotel like Bruges itself is just full of history

The tea and coffee supplied in the room was pretty awful so take a bit of your own. We booked for the week before initially but had to change dates and the cost went up £50 a night. No drawers in our room, just a really big wardrobe with only one hanger and our bar fridge and tea and coffee making facilities inside.

Hotel itself is lovely with lots of interesting antiques and pictures which contributed to a warm cosy atmosphere. The breakfast was very good with lots of choices which were replenished if needed. There was even Cava on offer which made a very good bucks fizz! The breakfast room was a lovely traditional room with tables laid to a high standard. Staff were friendly, approachable and professional. I would definitely stay here again when I next visit bruges

Room needed a little refreshing with painting but the bed was very comfy and the antique furniture was a nice touch.
