My stay at Hotel Alpenstuben was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The location is simply unbeatable—nestled right in Hohenschwangau, the hotel offers breathtaking views of both Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles, which we could admire directly from our room. Waking up to such a stunning panorama was a highlight of our trip. The staff at Alpenstuben were incredibly professional and welcoming, always ready to assist with a smile. Their friendly demeanor made us feel right at home, and they were more than helpful with local tips and recommendations. Breakfast was a real treat, offering a wide variety of fresh, delicious options that catered to different tastes. The attention to detail and overall hospitality throughout our stay were top-notch, making the whole experience feel very personalized. Location was excellent. Breakfast was amazing, really good tasting and premium options such as soft pretzels and tasty hot chocolate. Parking was simple and convenient. Enjoyed the room's small balcony. Had the most delicious cooked cabbage at dinner in the on-site restaurant.

We arrived early and spoke to reception about using the on-site parking so we could set up castle tour. The person should have offered me the guest card on the spot (my reservation was already paid in full) so I could enjoy a cost savings on my tickets and get some value for my city tax. Wish there was an elevator to get the luggage up 2 flights of stairs.

My family and I had a wonderful stay. Clean, comfortable, well-located. Everything we could ask for in a hotel. We enjoyed their restaurant as well and ate there probably most of the time- when we were not snacking on hikes. It is difficult to assess places to stay without being at the location in the moment, but having stayed there, I think we definitely made the right choice. We came by bus/train, but they do have parking options. The front desk was also kind enough to hold our backpacks for us as we arrived before check-in and departed after checkout. Thank you!

Our stay was very enjoyable. We arrived during an off season time but our experience couldn't be better. Parking was easy to attain across the street and after check in we were given a parking pass for the dashboard of the car. The room accommodations were spacious for what we needed (family room with bathroom). There were two private bedrooms and a small walkway to connect with bathrooms. Breakfast offered a nice selection of hot and cold options. The staff were incredibly friendly and offered good suggestions for sights to see. We also took an evening meal in the restaurant and were given good food and wine/beer pairings. Overall we were very happy and I look forward to our next stay.

The rooms got cooler in the evening even with the heat all the way up. With the warmth of the blankets it didn't detract from the quality of the room but would have been better to be slightly warmer.

We initially booked the hotel Alpenstuben, but unfortunately it was closed for seasonal maintenance. Luckily we didn't have to rebook as they moved us to sister hotel villa ludwig. It's hard to know where to start and to find the words to describe this family run hotel. OK, beautiful building in the very best location, I mean the views are amazing. I can honestly say that the rooms we had for a family of five were the best, biggest, cleanest and most comfortable I have stayed in for a very very long time. The owners/staff are equally as special, pleasant, very helpful with advice, booking tickets for our castle tour etc. Finally, breakfast was perfect and plentiful. We would love to go back in the snow.

This historic property was in a fantastic location with professional, accommodating, efficient staff. Excellent breakfast, and again, fantastic location. The lunch and dinner were also excellent, but the restaurant fills quickly, as there are soooo many visitors during the day. Make reservations even if you are staying at the hotel. We saw many people turned away during our short stay. The view looking up at the castle was enchanting, every time I say out on the balcony. All in all we had a great stay!

People should be prepared for an historic building. There are creaky doors, no room fridges and no coffee makers. We were ok with all that, but others travelers may not be (and it would be their loss!)

The room was larger than I expected. The beds were very comfortable. In addition, the staff was very friendly. Finally, we did not have a reservation, but the staff accommodated us very nicely; we had a great dessert! The breakfast had great variety. The breads were fresh. We really enjoyed the cheeses and sausages at breakfast also.

The bathroom in the room was a little smaller than expected, but this wasn't a problem. The bathroom itself had a great shower, sink, toilet, etc. We were only a family of 3, but there are enough beds for 5 people. If 5 people had to share the bathroom, it would have been a bit crowded :)

Location is amazing, you are so close to the castle. I even got a room with a wonderful view of it. The hotel is small, but very cozy. I had diner at the restaurant and the food was great. The breakfast was also very good. It made my trip to Neuschwanstein much better. Just wake up, had breakfast and went to visit the castle, much better than waking up 4am to leave Munich for a 2 hour train trip. I would do it again if I plan to visit Neuschwanstein again.

I liked everything... I will say I was a bit confused because the check in has to be done before 6pm... I understood that the personnel has to work in the restaurant afterwards... but everytrhing was great.

Great location, very convenient to visit the castles as the hotel comes with parking. In the morning, we could catch the early bus up to the castle and beat the crowd. We loved the breakfast here - so much variety and local products to try. Rooms were spacious and the staff was very nice.

The stairs were a bit steep and narrow, but the gentleman at check-in was nice enough to help with our luggage. We ate at the restaurant three times - the ladies who served us at dinner and breakfast were warm and friendly; however the girl who served us around lunch was surly and inflexible.

We had an excellent room with a view of the castle, comfortable for our family of three. The breakfast was great with lots of choices and espresso. Parking was right across the street and monitored for $10 a day. Dinner was good, but the cheesy spätzle with onions was my favorite thing ever! I could have eaten a plate of it! Easy (but arduous) walk up to the castle.

There were minimal shelves or hooks in the bathroom for hygiene items. Otherwise everything was great.
