The hotel's location is excellent, situated conveniently close to the castle. You can easily reach it by car in about 5 minutes, or choose to walk and take in the beautiful landscape along the way, though it takes a bit longer. The room was clean and quiet, providing a comfortable stay. Breakfast was good, offering a decent selection, though not quite exceptional. Overall, a pleasant experience with room for minor improvements.

I missed having toast at breakfast. It would have been a nice addition to the meal options.

We booked this place as we wanted to visit the nearby castle(s). We are on a motorcycle trip from the UK to Croatia and in fact we’re now on the homeward leg having been away for around four weeks so far. This hotel was easy to find and has good parking immediately outside the property. It’s a much less densely populated area than we’d expected so that’s very pleasing. When we arrived we were greeted by a member of staff who was incredibly helpful and spoke superb English which was a real bonus for us. He gave us all of the information we needed and helped us sort ourselves out for our visit to the castles. The area is served by an excellent bus service and the hotel has all of the information one needs. Our room was perfectly adequate and had a decent sized balcony with a great view of both castles! A lovely selection for breakfast and a range of restaurants very close by. The hotel is family owned and run and they make a very good job of it!

The hotel is across the river from the castle but very walkable (about 10 minutes). Nice to not be with the hoards of tourist busses near the castle. It is a centralized cluster of small apartments around a converted farming barn. The host was most helpful and informative. We arrived a bit late and he stayed at the desk for us until we arrived about 6:30 pm. The room was large and had a great balcony and view of the castle. The hotel was accommodating by letting us use the on-site parking for the day after we checked out and while we toured the castle.

The location was beautiful with mountain and castle views and was magical in the snow. Nearest shop is a bit of a walk but the hotel does provide drinks and cakes. Breakfast wasn't great, we booked breakfast due to the raving reviews but ir was very basic and in my opinion not worth £10 per person. No other snacks provided which was a little but disappointing as at the time we were there it was very thick snow and we had no choice but to walk half hour to the nearest shop for food. No restraunts or pubs near by. Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming.

Lack of services during extreme weather.

This hotel was very nice and clean with excellent choice of quality continental breakfast items breakfast was 3 breakfast sitting from 7:00 am 8:00 am and 09:00am this was to ensure that all guests had the same choice. The attention to detail from all the staff has to be commented, very helpful indeed explaining each step in detail. They did not serve evening meals however recommended the local Brewery for some traditional Bavarian cuisine …. Which was 1st class and served quickly. The mattress on our bed was excellent and we had one of the best sleeps since we started touring Europe over 2 weeks ago. We would like to thank all the staff for making our stay so memorable…. Thank you again Eddie and Marie

Nothing ….. everything was 100%

A wonderful hotel, friendly, helpful staff, very comfortable room, within walking distance of the castles, Fussen and a great beer hall and restaurant. There are also lots of lovely walks and things to do in the area. The hotel breakfast was great and there was also complimentary coffee and cake every afternoon which had been handmade in their kitchen. Would definitely stay again.

Nothing.

Absolutely loved the reception we received when checking in. The gentleman was helpful in answering all of our questions and gave a great recommendation for dinner. Breakfast the next morning was excellent with a great variety of food choices. Very clean. Beautifully decorated for the Christmas season.

We love animals. However, 2 of my family members are allergic to cats. There was a sweet and friendly cat that roamed the reception area and the the snack room, and the dining area where we ate breakfast. That was the only drawback for those 2 family members- started some allergic symptoms of itchy eyes, nose, throat, etc. Nothing serious. Just uncomfortable.

My wife and I spent 5 days at the family-owned Guglhupf (which means "upside down cake") , and enjoyed the experience. (Bavaria is magnificent.) We reserved a premium double room, which was spacious, well configured and extremely comfortable. (Regrettably that room didn't offer a castle view.) The mattress was very comfortable. They, like every other German and Austrian hotel we stayed at on our trip, provide duvets rather than top sheets, spreads and blankets. There was plenty of closet and drawer space. The local cat hangs out in the main building and is reserved, but quite agreeable. Because the top-floor room was under the rafters, the low overhead might have been an issue for someone who is very tall, but I am 6'1" and had no problem. The room also offered a sort of mini-sauna and a separate single bed, neither of which were used. Housekeeping was immaculate. The bathroom was quite large, and offered a whirlpool bathtub as well as an enclosed compact shower. It was starting to get cool in the evenings, and the radiators were very effective. Parking was free. The staff were both welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was extensive and excellent. We were told by our local friends that parking is sometimes an issue in the area of the castles. They offered to drop us off there, and since they were committed later, they suggested that we just walk back to the hotel after completing our tours. It was an easy 25 minute hike downhill on a paved bike/walking path for most of the way, and sidewalks the rest. On a good day a hike up to the castles would be no problem for anyone who is motivated and reasonably fit. Further, we walked by a small pasture at the edge of town, and as we passed along the fence, the Bavarian Bovine Bell Choir gave us an enthusiastic (and free) concert.

The bed was very nice, though a standard sized pillow would have been helpful; instead they offered a very large one and a tiny one.

Super friendly and helpfull staff (thanks, Daniel!), really wonderful breakfast, great location, free parking. The hotel offers free tea and cake during the day, there are free refrigerators for the guests to keep their food if needed, also a tea kettle in the room. Oh and there is a fridge with the cold drinks (beer, water, juice, cola) at a normal price. Wonderful stay, recommended!

For our personal taste the pillows were not comfy, maybe the room should have a variety of them to choose from :)
