This confirmed everything most reviewers wrote on their reviews about their experience here for all the good reasons. My wife and I booked a king room with the spa bath and it was such a relaxing stay that night. It might not be perfect but it's an older Victorian heritage property, but it's got a cozy charm to it and that's what you get. But what really shines was the customer service from Mr. Chen. From the time we arrived, he helped from everything from our check-in, showing us the room, the spa tub, the support we got for the Netflix issue and allowing us the late check out! But the highlight truly was putting the exclamation point in Breakfast! You do not want to skip this for brunch elsewhere when you can have this as part of your stay.

Quiet location within walking distance to everything waterfront, easy check-in, comfortable bed, large room and bathroom, amazing spa bath, easy to use large TV with Netflix plus, generous breakfasts, quaint heritage decor, cute and friendly resident cat.
While the breakfast is generous, there was no deviation from it (I.e. if you request less or simpler due to dietary restrictions, you receive the same breakfast regardless). It was by no means due to uncaring, but rather the host's generous nature encouraged you to try it all regardless. Our bodies just can't handle that much food anymore unfortunately, and we felt bad leaving anything, so I think we ate beyond our means. But really, what a problem to have! Lol We were over-served. 😄 Our fault that we just kept eating. 😆 Something to note - there is parking behind the building, but it is tight, so best to arrive in a car versus a larger vehicle.

Fantastic location close to the waterfront, government building, and close walk to Chinatown. Our host, Mr. Chen was so kind and thoughtful. He helped us with our bags and offered a wonderful, substantial, and varied breakfast with both American and Chinese foods. We probably won't need to eat until dinnertime. He even upgraded our room for free. Our room was quiet and the bed was quite comfortable . There were lots of nice touches like the jacuzzi tub and slippers provided. This is in an older Victorian with a lovely sitting room. We were glad to meet his cute kitty, who wanted to travel with us by jumping in the trunk of our car as we were leaving, lol! Luckily, the kitty decided to stay with his owner. Thank you for a nice stay.
There is nothing to mention. Wish we had longer time there.

What an amazing stay we had! The Haterleigh truly surprised us with how much we loved it. It's a beautiful historic building, with large, comfortable rooms. We had so many amenities in the room, and enjoyed the space. Breakfast was a highlight, with a fun variety of options each morning. Our host was incredible and made sure my daughter had gluten free options every day. We tried new foods too, and loved the black sesame rice balls!! The location is really great - close to walk to all the main highlights of downtown Victoria, but also very quiet as it's off the main busy roads. We look forward to staying here again in the future.

This is more a B&B than an Inn. In fact the nameboard outside says B&B. It has 6 rooms we think. It is a little off-putting as you arrive as the front garden is not like the photo and is overgrown. There is also a series of boxes outside where you get your keys from after tapping in a code which makes it feel very impersonal. The house is a heritage house and will be very difficult to maintain. Especially in winter. Clearly 100yrs ago the downstairs rooms would have been reception rooms and not bedrooms but they have been furnished with period furniture. The parking at the rear of the property was fine but again the rear yard was a bit junky. Breakfast was excellent. Really excellent. It was towards the end of breakfast on the first day that we met the host. He us if Asian heritage and his English is not perfect and he might be a bit conscious of this which might be the reason for the impersonal approach which is strange in a B&B. But we got in very well with him and enjoyed chatting with him as we hung around after breakfast. The location is perfect for the Fishermans Wharf area to take Whale watching boats.

Chen was the most accommodating host that I have ever meet. One is surrounded by turn of the century decor and stain glass from the Victoria age, yet the beds are upgraded and the rooms are spacious. I slept well in a quiet neighbour a short walking distance from the harbour. I'll definitely be back.
Some may find the mold on the windows and bath tiles troubling, however having a character home myself I know the challenges of dealing with single pane glass windows and the efforts it takes to manage moisture. Chen does his best to ventilate the rooms, but it is up to guests to reduce the moisture by operating the bathroom fan.

The owner was very welcoming and met us as we parked and carried my case inside. The breakfasts were very nice, starting with fruit followed by some noodles or soup and then a cooked breakfast with toast or croissant. When he found out I was gluten-free, he ensured that my breakfast were all ok for me to eat. I would recommend a stay here. It was a great location for seeing Victoria and surrounding areas. I would definitely stay here if visiting Canada again.
The shower was a little temperamental.

It felt like staying at my aunt and uncle's house but not needing to interact with them at all. We were encouraged to help ourselves to the fridge and food and snacks all day long - these are all available in the kitchen/dining area on the main floor. Everything, from check in to eating to check out, was self service. We loved this because we like the comfort of a b&b but dislike a lot of interaction with the inn keepers. This was the perfect spot for us. What interaction we did have was very lovely- the hosts are so welcoming and delightful. The room was very very comfortable. We had a king suite with a Jacuzzi and a balcony. It was very private and quiet and we enjoyed sitting out on the balcony with coffee enjoying a storm. The bed was super comfy. Included an ac unit and fan though with the windows it stayed nice and cool.
There's really nothing we didn't like. A bike rack would have been a bonus, but honestly it wasn't an issue to lock up our bikes in the backyard under a little part of roof. They were really so accommodating!! The only thing that was confusing was the self check in and only because we've never used a point of sale machine from the merchant side of things and it took me a minute to figure out how to pay. Really not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, though!

A heritage B&B is not our usual style of accommodation but we gave this inn a try because of its location and price point. Our 3 night stay was quiet and comfortable. Proximity to the seaside walk along Dallas Road and downtown was perfect. Our host was reserved yet eager to please us with his unique array of multiple courses at breakfast.
The property has so much potential. The exterior especially would benefit from regular repair and maintenance.

Heritage home built in 1901…put that into perspective! Unique property that we quite enjoyed staying in for the experience. King suite was nice with jacuzzi tub. Check in/out was a breeze. Class act in the AM for breakfast serving fruit/chacuterie/croissants/fried egg and some asian dishes. Very kind and genuine. Close to downtown waterfront - 10 min walk to parliment. We’d stay again and recommend recognizing this is a heritage property.
