It’s a beautiful, grand hotel. Our room was clean with neutral decor. We loved the use of the Elemis products in the bathroom. Breakfast was good in the morning and the staff were lovely.
We struggled to warm up the room and it was very expensive for a 1 night stay.

Lovely hotel, very friendly staff and nice atmosphere and good location. Comfortable beds. We had made slight error with our booking for one of the rooms and the manager was very efficient in fixing it for us and honouring what we thought we had booked. slight delay in the rooms been ready and we were given complimentary drinks at bar as result which was unnecessary as only slight delay but very nice touch all the same. Would recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Manchester.
The spa was nice but the booking time slot in advance to use pool and facilities does impact the stay, I appreciate it's small space but feel they could be more flexible. On our last morning not all party went down yet they would not allow other couple to use space saying it was booked up even though 3 of our party did not use pool at that time ... Something to be mindful of. Also water pressure is a little on the weaker but again nothing major.

The hotel was fantastic, very luxurious. Great location and atmosphere within the hotel. Staff all very helpful, chatty and friendly. Walking distance from oxford st station aprox 8 mins and 10 mins in a taxi to ao arena. Plenty of good bars and restaurants on the doorstep but most of them you need to book a table as they dont accept walk ins. Stayed in superior king room and couldnt pick one fault. Would definitely return
I have celiac disease so can't have gluten. Can't fault the hotel for anything at all other than the menu choice throughout the day and breakfast. It is an individual thing but I have stayed at other hotels that have a few more choices when it comes to dining, I think this could improve at the midland. What I will say though, the food I had was delicious.

When we first entered our room their was a lovely personalised note for me which was really nice and some chocolates to celebrate my birthday and engagement anniversary. The bed was made up with cute romantic swans and red petals it was beautiful. We had two drinks at the bar which were fantastic - the gin and tonic was served in a beautiful glass.
We loved the spa facilities but a big family came in with children who were very loud, running up and down and kept opening and shutting the doors to the sauna and steam rooms. There was another child with their dad who were playing games in the pool like throwing and catching. The pool shouldn't be used for this and wasn't as relaxing.

This is a grand and opulent building which still exudes old fashioned splendour. The staff are all very customer focused. The concierge are especially worth mention. The reception bar area is beautiful and gets very busy
The rooms have very high ceilings so u appreciate are difficult to maintain, but when lying in bed the last thing you want is to see peeling wallpaper. Spoils an otherwise stunning room. Whilst the reception bar is well staffed it took a good 20 mins to get served and others walked away

Room was a superior double with 2 double beds. Lots of space in the room. Wardrobe space limited but good in room facilities - coffee station, water, bathroom products, hair dryer, ironing board. Lovely hotel and would stay again but room could do with a revamp (carpet was worn and stained in parts) and room service/housekeeping was slow to answer so often had to call twice. Room was cold as heater/air con was not working but a heater was provided immediately.
Place was perfect for our trip

The welcome we had was very good. Due to back injury issues we have to travel with rucksacks rather than suitcases which give us a bit of a hiker look and we choose to travel by train. The impression I had was the check-in staff treated us exactly the same as if we had arrived in a limousine which sadly has not always been our experience in some other hotels. Breakfast was really excellent where nothing ever ran out before being restocked. The staff were totally on top of their game and always courteous. The fast and frequent three lift service was a boon to us on the 6th floor. This is an old railway hotel for the now closed Manchester Central station now a conference and exhibition centre and much is made of the hotel's history which was gratifying especially to rail travellers like us. Trams to nearly all parts of Manchester stop across the road.
Situated on the 6th floor (623) where some rooms have ceiling slopes we weren't able to be sure our room wasn't smaller than others on lower floors. The bathroom door was looking rather tired. The loo seat needed a deal of tightening up.

Hotel was in the perfect location for getting around the city. Tram stop just across the road which made it even easier to travel a greater distance without the cost of a taxi. Comfiest bed ever! We both had a really good nights sleep. Entrance area and tea room fabulous, I recommend trying a Xmas cocktail and the Manchester Tart is a must. Only stayed one night so didn’t use all the facilities, will definitely be back for a longer break.
Unfortunately our room was near the function room and adj to tram lines on mezzanine level, party started at 6pm, disco was too loud, in between hits the tram would go past which was spoiling our stay, I asked to be moved to a quieter room and the reception staff were very obliging and provided us with an alternative which was perfect.

The room (standard) was perfect for us with a comfortable largish bed. The facilities in the room were all we needed. Breakfast was excellent with a very good choice. It was very convenient for the Bridgewater Hall as well as the centre of Manchester. The room was clean. The reception staff and bar staff were excellent.
A couple of the floor tiles in the bathroom were loose and some of the grouting between them was missing. I let the reception know about this. Hopefully someone will carry out a repair, but it should have been done before using the room. I would have preferred a walk-in shower rather than one over a bath.
