The location was perfect for exploring Victoria - easily walkable to the downtown area and ferry terminals. The room was clean and comfortable. The studio suite was well equipped and perfect for a lengthy stay. The staff was all friendly and helpful. The hotel had an exceptional pool area - really clean and with locker rooms. The game room, billiard room and laundry room were also clean and easy to use.
No serious cons for this hotel. A swimsuit spinner dryer in the pool area or a retractable clothesline in the room would have been nice for wet swimsuits.

The staff are fantastic The location can’t be beat Considering how close you are to downtown it is quiet at night They are great with dogs! I love the fact that there is above ground parking as well as underground
Nothing. I have stayed here many times before. This is an older style former apartment building turned into a motel. It has some simple aspects as in the kitchens and baths are older style BUT the fact that most rooms have kitchens is amazing especially if you have a dog or kids. And they even have full size fridges. The rooms from the stuido size up are big enough for several people which is nice if you want a place to sit and visit. I come here and stay several nights at least a couple of times a year and I am never disappointed.

Loved having a spacious suite. This included a lounge with balcony (+ TV); small dining area; small but adequate kitchen; large king sized bedroom & galley-type bathroom. Lots of storage space. The location is excellent as is the value for money.
Sadly the water went off at 0300 on our first morning. Emergency repair equipment was noisily at work outside the hotel by 0800 & a single shower room offered in the basement pool area. The water ran cool throughout. Disappointing. However Reception kindly offered a generous discount at checkout for our inconvenience. Despite all its good qualities we feel that the Royal Scot could benefit from an upgrade. Pink sanitaryware in the bathroom; dark wood/old fashioned tables, chairs etc & pictures we’d expect in an old people’s home. Sad but true. Investment would however put the prices up no doubt. Finally, there’s currently no food (eg breakfast) available at the RS - shame.

I always enjoy the friendly staff at this hotel. I asked them if they could fix something and it was done in no yime at all. This hotel is a bit quirky, and I should say that not everyone will appreciate its charms. For me, travelling with a dog, on my own, it is great. My room was small but perfectly sized for one woman and a large dog. It was amazingly quiet for its downtown ,ocation. You can park your car outside in a large parking lot and come and go easily. You can walk to just about everything you might need. I once stayed here when recuperating from a brief hisoital stay and it was oerfect because besides their own restaurant there are a number of other hotels nearby that have takeaway food (Grand Pacific). Lots of great neighbiurhoods to walk with your dog, plus you can take your dog to most stores. The legislature grounds are literally just across the street. THIS is not a modern shiny new motel. The bathroom is older, but the point is that it is comfy and welcoming. And the satff are young and very helpfuk and patient!
I am not crazy about their TV setup. For some reason I find it awkward. But that is my only complaint. The WIFI is great, although not secure which is not unusual.

Location; Size of room Friendliness of staff
Tiny bathroom; Very hot room with just a couple of fans; Swimming pool, games room and DVD room were all in the basement which felt very isolated; I had chosen a hotel which had a bar and a restaurant open for dinner; however when I got there I found out that both of these were closing after lunch. As a solo female travellor I was disappointed that I had to go out in the evening for dinner and also had no comfortable lounge area to sit in; I observed a number of other people checking in during the time I was there being told that they had been upgraded, i was not given this option despite paying a similar price for the room.

Very nice but surprising to be upgraded to a suite- almost more than we needed for the short stay we were there. Also great location and nice to be able to park and leave the car during our stay.
We did notice the bathroom wasn't as clean as needed, lots of long hair left on surfaces

Rooms were very clean, beds were comfy, location was great for hiking downtown, staff were friendly. Rooms were quiet and we loved having a kitchenette!
There was no air conditioning so it was hot in the room during the two last hot days we were there. Fans were in the room but usually we don't like fans blowing on us when we sleep. It made for a stuffy, hot environment. It was a good thing the windows could stay open for early morning cooling, we kept the room dark with the curtains closed. This helped! For the price of the rooms, I'm surprised they also charged for an additional fee for parking.

Accommodations, facilities and staff were first rate. Very quiet; surrounded by beautiful gardens and trees. Peaceful and therapeutic (pool, sauna, hot tub). The kindness of staff and level of cleanliness was outstanding. Location on the inner harbour extremely convenient for walking the downtown core, as well as access to many attractions. Not to mention the free (non-requested) room upgrade.😁
With our changing climate (consistently hotter weather),Royal Scot may want to invest in an air-conditioning system. BUT, the two fans that staff placed in the suite prior to my arrival we're perfectly adequate in keeping the space cool during my stay. Friendly suggestion; NOT a complaint.

The Royal Scot is charmingly dated, but we had a wonderful stay. The location is perfect, just down from Parliament and the staff is so helpful. We had a suite and it had a full kitchen, dining room and large living room. The hotel is near the hustle and bustle but very quiet. We would definitely stay again.
The only thing I would caution is that there isn’t air conditioning. We stayed during some pretty hot days. At first I was worried that it would be too hot but with the fans and the night breeze it was actually fine.

My husband has mobility issues and the room was set up for him. The room worked perfectly for us, and the location of the hotel was great for us with health issues. I didn't have a chance to use the pool. We had asked one of the front desk staff to take a photo of us, and it turned out really well. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
I was surprised by the $17 parking fee in addition to the room rate.
