What a surprise. On first glance we had some trepidations, as the exterior looked a little tired. However, the staff, namely Samir was very welcoming, polite& helpful. On hearing of our trials with a hire car, he, without any preamble, paid for the first drinks we ordered at the bar. A kind thought. Our room was functional, in need of updating but we felt this is a work in progress, as the new bathroom was immaculate, we'd be happy to come back and see the finished job. All the staff were great, just the right amount of friendly, but with respectful distance at the appropriate times. We weren't left looking around for assistance during any of our transactions with all the restaurant/bar/breakfast staff. No complaints at all . At breakfast, very helpful staff found replacement items that had run out, nothing was a problem. Very good service. We found the breakfasts excellent, with a decent continental option, meats and cheeses, fresh fruits, all really tasty. Hot pastries and a choice of very good barista style self serve coffee that made us seriously regret missing not one but TWO of our pre paid breakfasts of our four morning's stay! The pool and spa was the icing on the cake. Oh and the hand stretched pizza delivered to our room late on the last night, again faultlessly handled by yet another staff member. Delicious pizza too! If I had any complaints, I fail to recall them. Thanks for the pleasant stay. And extra for, Oliver/Dylan& Mohammed, for finding humour ,whilst maintaining professionalism,in the face of adversity.

I struggle but .. The outside bin/smoking bench, needed emptying for a few hours on the morning of our departure, along with the water bottle in the entrance hall was empty all that morning too,a shame as I was loading the car and would have liked to have stopped, as I had on many other occasions, to get a lovely cold glass... Seemed to much trouble to ask as I was busy myself. Not a big thing tho, as I say, plusses way outweigh any tiny minuses.

Room was lovely. Perfect for sharing with the kids. Would of preferred a bigger bathroom tho. Room was extremely clean! 10/10 to the cleaners. Breakfast was just as expected and perfect for the price. Was a little confused because you have to add it to the room but cannot complain about it really. It did say on the website 16.95 PP and continental free with a full breakfast so was a little different to what we got charged which was actually cheaper. Overal lovely stay. The lady on reception called Sarah, was extremely helpful on several occasions! 10/10 for her.

The £50 deposit for incase room service was going be ordered. This is not something we wanted to do, we was there for a wedding so wasn't actually in the hotel that much. Definitely wasn't planning on using the room service, so I think this should be optional and not automatically taken at check in. It was refunded to myself on check out however I had to wait 5 days to have the refund back into my account. Money I don't think should be taken I'm afraid. Also wasn't told of this at check in so it was abit of a shock when seen on banking. Why can't room service be added to the bill for check out like breakfast, why does the £50 need to be pre taken out!

The staff were so lovely and helpful. They really made a fuss of my daughter and made us feel very welcome. Dylan, Ishima and the lovely man in reception, I didn’t get his name but he was very helpful.

The building looks like it needs some TLC. The rooms are clean but the decor is tired looking and the paint needs refreshed. The jacuzzi in the swimming pool was out of order the whole time we were there and I was so looking forward to using it but just bad luck I suppose.

Staff were very attentive throughout our stay. Any questions were answered and all were chatty and interested in our stay and us as guests. Gluten Free options were advised to us at breakfast time and loved the touch of free drinks and chocolate and fruit at reception. All staff approached when stood in queues to make sure we were all ok and couldn't do enough to help.

Air conditioning like in most hotels are centrally controlled rather than customer choice room to room. I feel we should have the choice to control room temp as guests. Especially now summer is here. We were given a large fan to compensate which was very much needed. A little TLC is probably needed around the hotel as it's an old and a little tried building. Windows outside could do with a dust and a clean. Beds were comfortable however mattress sunk in the middle meaning not a great night's sleep. These are minor points however that didn't spoil our stay at all.

Loved the restaurant and the children friendly areas. There was even a child's activity park at Reception. Great choice of breakfast items at the serve yourself buffet bar - cereals, croissants, pastries, muffins, bacon, sausages, eggs and fruits, yoghurts, meats, cheeses and breads etc. Certainly something for everyone. Free car parking with plenty of space.

No spare pillows in the room. I had requested a twin room at time of booking but was given a double bed. The check in staff quickly found us another room with double bed and sofa bed. The TV was limited, just a basic Freeview TV.

The room was lovely and clean. We were originally apprehensive as the first impression of the hotel doesn't match the pictures. However as soon as you walk in, it's clean and airy. Really lovely with a warm atmosphere. Very impressed! The views in the dining areas were stunning (especially at sunset) and the service was spot on. Super helpful. We had forgotten some toiletries and they provided some spares straight away. Ordering food was very easy, for both dinner and breakfast. Honestly couldn't fault this hotel.

The outside of the hotel seemed a little run down and there was a strong fertiliser smell in the car park. These weren't massive issues but definitely something we noticed when arriving.

The pool (although cold) was good and easy to book. Staff friendly and helpful in leisure area and desk. Waiting staff in restaurant kind. Hood choice of food in restaurant which tasted nice. Changing area in leisure area good too. The room was a good size with comfortable beds. Breakfast excellent

The wait for food in the restaurant was ridiculous. Waited far too long, as did others. Even for starters and puddings we had to wait beyond 40/50 mins. Had to chase up out mains to be brought out. Not keen on the computer ordering system as didn't speed anything up etc!

We were looking to a place to stop over on a long drive north, and this was perfectly situated. It was clean, fresh, the bed was comfortable and the room a nice cool temperature. Room was not big, but we didn't need space anyway. Staff were all friendly and welcoming. I was pleasantly surprised by the range of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. For what I was hoping for it exceeded my expectations. Welcoming to dogs.

Would have been nice if the smart TV had Netflix or prime apps so we could log into our own.platforms and watch movies- TV wouldn't do that in the room

On arrival my wife & I found that the bed was a little smaller than that we have at home. We had a word with Lucksi,{ I'm sorry if I have spelt your name incorrectly}. She was able to not only change our room to one with two double beds for the night, but said that she would organise that room for our return on Friday June 9th. Thankyou so much. I would also like to mention Oliver who when we came down to dinner helped us with the electronic ordering pad, both times. Thank you Oliver, dinner was superb both times. Also a big thanks to Gareth. You have a wonderful team & if we are ever in the area again we will not hesitate to book The Holiday Inn Stoke on Trent.

My wife and I had absolutely co complaints at all.

Breakfast excellent choices, more than enough, caters for everyone Room was clean light and airy, comfortable bed and pillows. really good blackout curtains, we slept well. Excellent staff Easy access to Biddulph Grange Gardens Very good fitness area

Not a fan of the key cards system, struggled to open the door on arrival, and the card would not work on the second day, we took the card to reception and was told that the card had been wiped, probably due to being to close to our phones But not a big deal
